Just go to Wal-Mart

Jon Kent has been talking up a storm.  Just off the wall type things.  He will pick up a phone and start talking.  We will ask who he is talking to and it could be just about anyone.  To one of his grandparents, to a character he has seen on TV.  The other night we're on our way home from church and grabbing something to eat.  He was talking on his play cell phone.  Here is the conversation:

Jon Kent:  "Hello?"
???: "?????"
Jon Kent:  "Umm yeah."
???:  "??????"
Jon Kent:  "You want to come eat with me?"
???:  "??????"
Jon Kent:  "OK.  Bye."

We asked him who he was talking to...

Jon Kent:  "Spongebob."

Now we don't let him watch that show.  But he does have a toy that he got from some happy meal or something that he totes around from time to time.  So we're guessing it came from that.  Who knows.

This past Sunday morning I had just gotten out of the shower and I was fixing my hair.  Jon Kent and Zoey were in my bed under the covers giggling and talking about all sorts of things.  I'm guessing Zoey was trying to get Jon Kent's "pappy" (paci) and he told her no.  He then said.  "This is Jon Kent's pappy.  You can go to Wal-Mart and get you a pappy.  He has told Kent the same thing when Kent tries to "steal" his pappy.  "Daddy you can go get a pappy at Wal-Mart."  Then today he told me I need to go to Wal-Mart and get him some green candy.  ?????

Apparently the lesson in this is.. we go to Wal-Mart way too much!

Finger Paints

So I got brave and finally bought the kids some finger paints.  I was pretty worried how this would all turn out as I'm a bit of a neat freak, but it turned out pretty great AND we have some new artwork on our fridge!  The kids loved it and were so proud of their creations!

Just wanted to write

This may all be mumbled to most but I just wanted to write.  Nothing particular, just had the drawing.

The kids have had fevers the past couple of days.  Ranging from 101 to 99.  Jon Kent got it first and then Zoey.  They both seem to be recovering from it today.  Whiney but recovering.  We took them to Wal-Mart to pick up some night lights (I'll explain later) and a few surprises for them for being so good lately.  Zoey got a little beanie Minnie Mouse doll, that she cried when we had to take it from her to pay for it.  She is currently sleeping with it as I type.  Jon Kent got another addition to his "Thomas and Friends" collection.  Arry and Bert I believe are their names.  After that we came home and rested and just hung out as a family.  All of us are pretty tired lately.

We got like 4 or 5 new nightlight to put around Jon Kent's room and in the hallway pointed into his room.  Last night I decided enough was enough and it was time for him to sleep in his bed and stay in his bed all night long.  I haven't been sleeping well with him in there which has meant miserable days.  So it took a lot to keep him from our bed but I managed.  But I did have to get up 4 or 5 times in the night and remind him that he couldn't sleep with Momma and Daddy any more.  He then told me he was "Scared".  I said of what.  He whispered, "The dark."  I felt bad for him but stood firm and told him that there was nothing to be afraid of.  He asked me, "Momma are you scared?"  I told him no, that I like sleeping in the dark.  But I couldn't help but remember the night light that my daddy HUNG for me above my head that was there until the day I got married.  And then one of the first purchases Kent and I made after we got back from our honeymoon was a nightlight to go in the hall, "So I could see my way to the bathroom."  But now I really do like sleeping in the dark.  Anyway, I told him I would turn on the bathroom light and he seemed to be fine with that.  He then told me he was scared of Pawpaw.  I asked him why and he didn't say anything.  I said did you have a dream about Pawpaw.  He said he did.  We think he knows what dreams are as he talks about things that happened while he slept.  Anyway, I said well that's good sweetie, that means you get to play with Pawpaw even when you are sleeping.  His Pawpaw is his best friend.  Pawpaw is also his great grandfather.  They do everything together and there is hardly a day that goes by that they don't see each other.  They have been buds since Jon Kent was a newborn.  So anyway, Jon Kent seemed to like the idea of playing with Pawpaw while he slept so he went right back to sleep and slept until it was time to get up.  So tonight he shouldn't be afraid of the dark because he has plenty, plenty of night lights and has Pawpaw to play with.  But maybe I should find an extension cord and hang a nightlight above his head.

A Day of Tales

Days like today are when I enjoy being a parent the most.

This morning I took this kids with me to have my hair cut.  I don't usually take them unless I know Kent's momma or sister have an appointment around the same time.  That way someone can watch them.  But no one had an appointment today and everyone was busy going back to school or whatever.  So I took them.  I stated to them very clearly several times that they were to sit in the chairs and be still.  They weren't allowed to get up or jump around or run or shout.  Nadda.  So we get there and they did great.  They say quietly and talked to each other and they asked me a few questions along the way.  I was so proud of them.

Jon Kent sang his alphabet to me.  Well most of it.  He gets mixed up around the 'D' and the 'K'.  But after LMNO he does very well.  He has sang it to me several times today.  I'm pretty impressed and proud of him.  He's 2.5 years old so I think it's a pretty amazing thing!  Zoey tried to say her's as well but you could just hear the 'tune' coming from her.  But she will get there.  They are growing and learning so much!

After we got home I decided to fill the kids' pool up and let them swim a bit.  But they didn't have any swim diapers so I looked them both in the eyes and told them clearly that if they wanted to swim they couldn't poop in their swimsuits.  They both seemed to understand so I put their suits on and off to the pool we go.  We had been out there awhile and it was nearing their nap time.  So I was getting ready to get them out.  About that time I see Zoey squatting like she was trying to poop.  I asked her if she had to poopie and she told me yes.  So off we go to the potty.  All along the way I am telling her not to poop!  So I sit her down on the pot and she poops!!!  She was proud too!  Then of course Jon Kent has to sit on it too (he HATES the potty and will totally freeze up if you ask him to go sit on it).  So Jon Kent is sitting there and he makes this face like he is straining trying to poop.  Then he lets out this big sigh and says, "Momma, I just can't.", in the cutest southern accent.  So after this they both go to bed.  After their naps they have lunch and Zoey comes up to me and says she has poopied.  So I check and she hadn't.  But she then says she wanted to go sit on the potty.  So off we go.  I notice while taking off her diaper that she is still dry.  So she sits on the potty and goes pee-pee.  So that is twice in one day that she has used the potty!

As you can see we have been busy here today!  Which is great.  I want both of them out of diapers before this new one arrives.  Hopefully we will reach that goal!

Cowardly Lion

Last night Kent, myself and some friends of ours all went out last night together.  We went to a comedy club about an hour from us.  We had a lot of fun and I laughed until my body literally hurt.  The guy up there was "Craig Shoemaker".  Look him up, he is pretty hilarious.  Anyway, the last set of jokes he did was actually the best part.  He was talking about how kids today have all this expensive toys and how when he was younger all they had were themselves and their friends.  So they would play tag and army.  He asked who all ever played army and a bunch of guys raised their hands.  So he puts up his fingers like they are guns and makes a machine gun sound.  He goes to this one guy sitting in the front and says put your fingers up and give me your best machine gun sound.. so the guy did and he sounded like a sheep.  So of course Craig made fun of him.  So he went to this other guy and he make some gassy sound and Craig made fun of him.. then he went to this other guy and I forget what he did.  Then he stopped and asked Kent to do it.. by this time I am dying.  Kent thought he had this one covered so he sounds off his machine gun and he really did sound like the "Cowardly Lion" from the Wizard of Oz.  So Craig made fun of him.  Then Craig went back and was like OK you shoot at him and they did and Craig would make fun of the exchange.. then he went to Kent and said you shoot at him.. but before Kent could, Craig (pretending to be Kent) ran off like the cowardly lion would have saying, "I'm scared!!!".  It was so funny!

We had a really good time!  If Craig Shoemaker is ever in your area you seriously need to check him out!

I do believe the picture says it all..

But for those who need a bit more detail...  We are pregnant.  We have known for about a week but today was my first appointment with the doctor.  We did the normal routine stuff and got some blood work done.  I'm having to take progesterone again since my body doesn't seem to make a lot of it.  For those who don't know.. progesterone is a hormone that tells the body to sustain the pregnancy.  Without that I would miscarry.. so.. we don't want that.  Anyway, this wasn't planned but it's still a very good thing.  If all goes well this little one will no doubt be our last.. as Kent is already looking up doctors to do the "V" deed.  ;0)  So.. in any case.. we are due April 2, 2008.
