Something about life and lemons and making lemonaide

I've had a bad few days.  Nothing horrible, just bad.  I have been in a mood lately.. a funk if you will.. that just won't go away.  I've gone back to my old ways of second guessing myself about EVERYTHING it seems.  Am I raising my kids right, should I get a job outside of the home, should I have punished the kids that way, should Jon Kent be pottied trained by now, is it something I'm doing wrong..  Over and over and over again.  Minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day..  And let me tell you.. it gets old.. QUICK!  But it will pass.. it always does.  I just hate it when it's here..

Kent was up for a promotion at work.  Didn't get it though.. at least not yet.  We think there are still a couple more spots left open that he could possibly get, but we are trying not to get our hopes up too much.  Kent said him and his boss (we hope his boss leaves soon!) don't get along.  Something along the lines of his boss plays mind games and Kent doesn't play along with him.  Kent will get the promotion eventually.. he's a hard worker and a good co-worker.  He will get it on his own terms.. without lowering his standards.  Which will be the best reward in the end!  So for that I am very proud of him.

The possibility of us moving isn't out of the question either.  Although after JUST building a house it would take a lot to get us to move.  But the option is still there.. especially if it's worth it.  We'll see I do suppose.

The kids are both doing well.  They are loving the fact that they get to play outside allll day long.. everyday.  They both have good little tans from it too.  Every morning after we get up, Jon Kent immediately asks if we can go "outside".  To which I reply, "After we eat breakfast and put our play clothes on."  To which his reply is "French toast!".  Also, as I've alreadied stated we are trying to potty train Jon Kent.  Not going so well.  When we go to the bathroom he immediately freezes up.  And if I even nudge him towards the toilet he begins to cry... so.. we have resorted to bribing.  Here is how a conversation might go between us on any given day..

While changing a poopie diaper:

Me:  You know Jon Kent, if you poopied in the potty you wouldn't have to stop playing to get your diaper changed.

JK:  Jon Kent not poopie..

Me:  Yes you did poopie.  If you poopie in the potty like a big boy, Mommy will take you to Wal-Mart to get a toy.

JK:  Jon Kent poopie kajdskafsj potty akdajls;afjd;as Wal-Mart get toy.  Poopie dkfjakldfjl potty Jon Kent big boy.

Me:  Yup if you will just poopie in the potty we will get you a toy from Wal-Mart and you will be a big boy.

JK: Down...

To which I let him down to go play.  Kids these days.. can't even bribe them to do something.  What's the world coming to?!?!!?

Maybe I won't erase this one..

I still can't believe I erased my last post.  Drives me crazy!  We really haven't been up to much.  Just been busy doing our day to day stuff.  Hard to sit down and think about something to write.

Both the kids are doing good.  They both have had the sniffles and some coughing lately.  But I think it's just the change in weather and the pollen in the air.  They are both LOVING the fact that it has been nice everyday for about 2 weeks now.  Most days it's in the high 70s to low 80s.  So they are liking the fact that we don't have to stay inside most of the day.  In fact, Jon Kent told me today that he didn't want to read books (we usually do every morning after breakfast) he wanted go outside.  So we did.  We came back inside later and read some books before nap time.

Last Friday I cut grass for the first time in my life!  Well not the *first time but it was the first time I actually cut allll the grass.  I've never cut the grass since Kent and I have been married.  But Kent was busy with work stuff and I had done all my chores for the day so I decided to tackle the task.  I actually had fun if you can believe it.  It took me awhile to get the hang of things.. didn't help that the push mower was out of gas and I was pulling the life out of that durn (how did you like that southern word?)chord thing trying to get it to crank.  But after putting some gas in it, I was good to go!  And then.. lol.. I was on the riding lawn mower and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to engage the blades so they would actually cut the grass.  I rode around in circles trying to figure out what I was doing.  But I finally did and I managed to get the whole yard cut before Kent got home.  He thought his dad or brother cut it and was surprised to learn that I had done it.  I was pretty proud myself!

Yesterday we took the kids to have their Easter pictures taken.  It took FOREVER too.  Jon Kent would NOT smile.  And every time we actually managed to get him to smile he would stick his tongue out.  We finally got some pictures out of them and it only took an HOUR to do it.  That lady taking the pictures had a lot more patience that I would have had.  So she got her money's worth yesterday that is for sure!

Well, I guess I will go.  This isn't the post I had before I erased it but it will have to do for now.  Really don't feel like going back and retyping that other stuff.  Maybe I will soon.. so stay tuned!

::Rips hair out::

I just wrote up a pretty good entry.  And did something stupid and somehow erased it all.  I will re-update later when I find time and the want.  Sorry for the lack of updates.  Just been busy and haven't really had the drive to write.. until tonight and that didn't end so well.  So maybe tomorrow..

We 'Roasted' to a Happy 5 Years together..

We had a good anniversary.  It came quietly and left the same way.  Nothing 'special' like a date or anything.  We just stayed home, ate pizza, had a marshmellow roast and watched a movie.  It was good though.  We enjoyed roasting marshmellows with the kids and they enjoyed it as well.  We will probably go out next weekend alone and celebrate.  I'm looking forward to it.  Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Kent and me!  Today is our 5th wedding anniversary!  It's hard to believe five years ago at this very moment I was just about to embark on a new phase in my life.  And here we are five years later still going and got two kids to boot!  It's kind of funny.. When we first got married we said that we wouldn't even starting trying to have kids until we had been married five years..  Well, we all see that idea quickly went out the window.  And I'm glad it did!  So, Happy Anniversary Kent.  Only 85 more years to go, right?

"Jon Kent ride it" (Zoo Pictures!)

We went to the zoo today.  And we spent ALL day there too!  We got there around 11:30am and stayed until 1pm.  Went and grabbed some lunch and then stayed until 4pm.  We were allllllll tired and the kids slept all the way home.  But it was a lot of fun.  Jon Kent loved looking at all the animals and Zoey liked being nosey and trying to get all the animals.  We had a good time though!!  Enjoy the pictures!!

Can I return Monday and get a Saturday instead?

Whew, it's nap time around here.  Thank goodness for nap time.  I need the hour or two to get my brain back in order.  After Sunday happenings the kids always seem a bit out of routine.  Who can blame them though..  They have all day with family members who spoil them and let them have anything and everything they want.  They get 5 full hours of playing and coloring and reading with "Granny & Paw-Paw".  See, on Sundays after church Kent's family always goes over to Kent's grandmother's house.  She does the whole southern lunch thing.  We eat, sit around and talk, and of course the kids get to play with everyone.  So when Mondays roll around they are still reeling from Sunday.  And all I want to do is go back to our weekly routines.  Today it took me (no joke) a hour and a half to get the kids and me ready to go to the grocery store.  I swear!  It doesn't take me that long to get ready with just me!  But between showering myself, getting them dressed, trying to get the dry clothes out of the dryer and the wet clothes in the dryer.. time just flew by.  After the kids wake up I still have to go and pick up the rest of the groceries.  We only got the meat, because I REFUSE to buy meat from Wal-Mart.. ick, ick, ick.  So we go to the local grocery store for our meat.  Then Kent and I are working out at 4pm.  Thankfully we have NO plans for tonight, so we are just going to relax!  Tomorrow we are going to the zoo.  So that will be a busy, fun filled day!  I'm really looking forward to it.  And yes I will take tons of pictures!  Well, I'm off to get some more stuff done before my angels awaken!  Talk with yall later!

RACKED up!!

My momma and I racked up today shopping at the consignment sale!  Yall know how I put my stuff in there twice a year.  And all the contributors get to go early and shop.  Well, it went great!  I got Zoey so much stuff for Spring and Summer!  Jon Kent didn't get so much from me.  He only got a polo shirt, some khaki shorts and some swimming shorts.  By the time I got to his sizes the place was SWAMPED with other 'mommies' and everything had been picked through.  But my momma did get in there before me so she got him some cute things.  So Jon Kent didn't do too badly.  It's just sooo much easier to shop for little girls.  Anyway, I posted some pictures of what I got the kids.  I would have posted what my mom got them but I just didn't have time to get all the tags off and safety pins out of them.  I also got the kids some shoes.  Those are in the pictures as well.  Oh, I also went walking through the aisles to see if I could spot anything that I put in the sale and a lot of my stuff was gone!  So that is good.  Hopefully I will make a good little bit.  Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Spring Fever

I don't really have it, but the lady on the news said it as I was trying to think of a subject..  The weather here has been great though.  70s and sunny.  Perfect weather for getting out of the house!  I have also had the windows up for the last couple of days as well.  After being couped up so much this winter it's nice to let the house air out and even nicer to get the kids out to run outside and play.  We went out yesterday and walked the trails behind my house.  We probably walked a mile or more and the kids had a blast!

Tomorrow my momma and I are going to a big consignment sale that I take part in.  Only the contributors are allowed to go tomorrow.  It starts at 9am.  I love going and trying to find cute clothes at a bargain.  I usually rack up for Zoey and Jon Kent usually gets a pretty good haul himself.  But they just don't make that many cute clothes for little boys.

Wednesday, if it doesn't rain, we have plans to take the kids to the zoo.  They have never been before..  Well, I take that back.  They went during Christmas but that was to see the lights.  None of the animals were out and it was night time.  So this is their first trip to the zoo to see the animals.  I will take lots of pictures!!!

Well, I guess I will go.  The kids are napping and I have some free time on my hands!  Talk with yall later!

Wagon Trail

Today the Wagon Trail Train came by our house.  They do every year around this time.  There is a story behind it all, but sadly I don't remember it.  Something along the lines of they are following the same route that the settlers took long ago.. something like that.. lol.  Anyway, I took some pictures of the kids watching it.  So enjoy!

And a sick update..  Kent is all better.  However, Kent's grandparents both got the bug, Kent's brother and sister and both of my parents.  It really hit us hard!  Hopefully by the end of the weekend everyone will be well and I won't have to keep dodging them with the kids!  LOL.  Enjoy your weekend everyone!
