I really want to cry...really!

It's a bitter sweet moment for me at this time.  And Kent isn't here at the moment for me to run to and either celebrate with or cry on.  So I'll come here and tell yall about it...

I have been debating for MONTHS now about how to get Jon Kent (he is almost 9 months old) to sleep better and to sleep on his OWN!  I am not a fan of the "cry it out" method, especially really early on (3 months or so).  If it worked for you...good, but for me it just didn't "feel" right at that stage.  So anyway, the past few nights...ok a week or longer...Jon Kent has been really hard to get to go to sleep and stay asleep for anything length of time.  Six hours was the max for him and that was a GOOD night.  Plus, it would take me 30 minutes or longer to get him to actually go to sleep.  So I got to thinking that I really needed to do something because once Zoey gets here I would really like for him to be able to go to sleep on his own.  So last night I semi tried the cry it out thing.  I bathed him, feed him, and let him doze a little and put him in his bed and told him night, night.  He cried for 5 minutes, so I went back in there, calmed him down and told him night, night again.  Then I walked out.  He cried for about 5 minutes or so and got quiet but then started crying again.  After 10 minutes I went back in there and picked him up and rocked him to sleep.  To which he slept 11 hours STRAIGHT!!  Woohoo!!  OK, now for the "I want to cry" part.  Tonight I bathed him, fed him, and kissed him on the forehead and said goodnight.  He cried for about 3 minutes and I haven't heard a peep out of him since.  So he went to sleep on his own.  Now, this is good it really is...but I really just want to cry now.  First off, I HATE with a passion for him to cry and for me to hear him cry "mama" and not just go running into his room.  It breaks my heart.  Another reason is, if this is a routine now for him, he is slowly but surely needing me less and less.  And that really makes me want to cry.  My little man is growing up and although I am happy about it, at the same time it makes me sad.  Am I crazy??  Probably so...  But at least it's NOT because of lack of sleep...  *giggles*

Weekend...thus far

It hasn't been what I would call a "slow" weekend, but not a really busy one either.  Kent, Jon Kent, and myself went to Kent's cousin's daughter's (did yall get that?) 1st birthday party today.  We had a good time and Jon Kent was very well behaved.  After the past few days of "preparing to teethed" I wasn't so sure of how he would act.  But he was very good.  He ate some ice cream and played on the playground.  He even wore a party hat long enough for us to take pictures.  He seemed to have a really good time!  After the party we came home just long enough for a bottle and a diaper change.  Then Jon Kent and myself went to a beauty pagent to watch my cousin Kaylee.  He slept through most of it and the rest he just crawled around and watched all the people clapping.  Kaylee was absolutely beautiful.  She did a great job!!  After that Jon Kent, my parents, and myself (lol) went out to eat for supper.  Then we (Jon Kent and I) came home.  We washed dishes, vaccuumed, and played.  Then it was bath time and bedtime.  Now, I sit here probably not making much sense because I am talking to Kent and chatting with my daddy (through IM).  So I guess I will end this here and save yall some misery!  Night all!

My baby...the toddler...=(

I honestly can't believe it...but Jon Kent is walking!!!!!    Why is my baby growing up so quickly!?!!?  Jon Kent was kind of walking already, but it was more stumbling than anything.  But today, we were at Kent's granny's house and he was holding on to the coffee table and he let go and walked to Kent's granny.  I was like WHAT!!!?!?!?!?!  So tonight I decided to see if he would walk to and from me.  So I got in the floor with my daddy and Jon Kent walked back and forth!!  He even was sitting down once and got up and walked to my daddy.  Then he did it again for Kent!!  So I guess it's official...he's walking!!!!

Oh my goodness is it HOT!

Heat Advisory:

Issued at: 11:05 AM CDT 7/23/05, expires at: 7:00 PM CDT 7/23/05

heat advisory in effect until 7 pm cdt Sunday
A heat advisory is in effect for all of central alabama through sunday. Combined high moisture content and temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, will make it feel like it is around 110 degrees today and Sunday. Urban and more densely populated areas will likely be a few degrees warmer than the surrounding countryside, and retain heat longer into the evening hours.
If you must venture out during the heat of the day, remember to wear loose, light colored clothing. Drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks in a shaded, well ventilated area. Children, the elderly, and those with chronic ailments, are especially vulnerable to the heat. Friends, neighbors, and relatives should check on those at risk, and remind them of hot weather safety tips. Also, be sure to provide your outdoor pets with fresh water and change it frequently.

Yeah, it's HOT!  The weatherman said this morning that tomorrow could actually get to the 100s and feel like 115.  That is just insane!  I mean all I can really do is sit inside by the AC all day or lay around in the pool.  Which I actually did this morning...lol.  It's just too hot to be doing anything.  I went outside to take the trash out, water the flowers, and get the mail and I had to take a break and come inside in between each task.  Poor Kent was dragging limbs off a tree this morning and he was just covered in sweat.  I know I not going outside unless I HAVE to tomorrow!

In other news, Kent, his dad, and grandfather cut down a HUGE tree yesterday (thus the reason he was dragging limbs today) on the lot of land we will be building our house on.  It was HUGE!  When they cut it down it made a loud crashing sound as it hit the ground!  They cut it up to give away as firewood for when the race people come to town during the races.  I *personally* believe they should sell it and make some money off of it...and Kent agreed but it's not *officially* our tree to sell yet so we kept our mouths shut.  ANYWAY, we also went and looked at new appliances yesterday for our new house.  My Maw and Paw (parent's) are buying our old ones (not really old...like 3 years or so old) and giving them to my brother and his fixing to be wife for when they get married in December.  We are getting a new fridge, washer, dryer, oven, microwave(that doubles as a hood over the oven), and a dishwasher.  So far we believe we can get all of the above for roughly $3000.  Which isn't too bad.  But we are going to wait til later in the year and see if any of the appliances go on sale.  Hopefully that will and we will be able to save a little bit of money on that.

Well, I am off to clean up and head over to my parent's.  Yall have a good weekend and if you are part of the country that is experiencing the heat wave...be careful and stay cool!!

Random Ramblings

It looks as though we have FINALLY settled on a houseplan (there are some pictures above).  We went yesterday to the place we are getting to build our house and we settled on the plans.  They ran a credit report and all that fun stuff and we go back in a week or so and sign on the houseplans.  They have to draw them up for us and such.  Anyway, I am kinda scared but excited at the same time.  Buying/building a house is a HUGE investment.  The foundation and framework should start by early September.

We did our grocery shopping today and did fairly well to be getting two weeks worth of food!  Plus having to buy birthday presents as well!  It wore Jon Kent out as he is currently in his bed taking a nap.  He was out cold by the time we got home.  Wal-Mart always seems to tire the little man out.  He did come home though with some bubbles in tow.  He always seems to come home with something...lol.

Well, I do believe I am going to go and take advantage of the sun being out and tan a little while.  I hope yall enjoy the pictures!!

Oh my back!

Ouch!  My back is killing me.  I don't think I have ever had a back ache like this one.  I don't know if I slept wrong or if lifting Jon Kent has finally caught up with me.  Either way, it's no fun whatsoever!  I woke up at one point this morning to go potty and I walked like a little old lady to the bathroom.  I'm too young for this!!  *sigh*

On a happier note, Jon Kent slept in his bed ALL NIGHT LONG!  He went to bed at 11pm (because we thought Hurricane Dennis was going to be a lot worse) and woke up at 8:15am.  I couldn't believe it!  I'm hoping this is a good sign because his ears are feeling better!  Funny this is...he's asleep now.  He must be one tired little guy.  Because he had only been up for about an hour before taking his first nap!

Finally, I need your prayers.  There is a lady that I go to church with and she is/was expecting twin September 17.  Well, she is in the hospital now having them.  So please pray for her and the babies that they both will be just fine.

I'll talk with yall later!

Jon Kent's ear surgery

Jon Kent had his ear surgery this morning.  Bright and early at 6:45am.  We got into the "holding" room and changed Jon Kent into the cutest little hospital gown.  It was so tiny and itty bitty.  It had two little ties in the back just like a regular hospital gown does.  When we would turn him around, you could see his little diaper hanging out of the back.  It was the cutest sight!  Anyway, we went back in to the OR holding area and waited for Jon Kent to be taken back into surgery.  All the nurses and staff came and talked to us and told us what their specific job would be.  He had a team of like 5 or 6 people.  It was hard to let him go when they took him from me, but I knew it had to be done.  Plus the whole surgery only lasted about 10 minutes.  They only had to use a gas mask on Jon Kent with no IVs or breathing tubes.  The doctor said Jon Kent would take two long breaths of the gas and be out.  The doctor put two tubes in and then drained both ears.  He said the pressure on Jon Kent's ear should be completely gone.  And that the whole surgery went just fine.  After Jon Kent was out of surgery he was fussy for about 45 minutes, but after some Tylenol and lots of loving he was good to go.  He slept on the way home and once we got home he has done nothing but played.  So he is doing very well.  Hopefully this will do the trick in making him a happier baby.  I hate to see him miserable!  Anyway, that's the update on his surgery!!

Blah, blah, blah, blah

There isn't really much to talk about today.  Since the 4th things have been rather slow around here.  By the way, our 4th went by fairly well.  Jon Kent and I went to a family reunion on my side of the family.  Kent had to work.  After my family reunion we came home and took a nap.  Then we went up to Kent's parent's house and swam and ate.  Then we came back home and grabbed a few things and headed over to my parent's house and stayed there until Kent got off of work.  It was a busy day.  Jon Kent was out like a light by the time we got home for the night!  Besides that, nothing else has really happened.  We are waiting on a time for Jon Kent's ear surgery.  We know it's going to be this Friday (the 8th).  And that it will be rather early in the morning (6ish).  But the exact times and stuff we will find out tomorrow sometime.  I can't wait until this whole thing is over with.  I hate to think about them taking my little man away and messing with his ears...or anything else for that matter!  But he will be much better off!  We are currently giving him another round of antibotics just to take away some of the pain with his ears.  He hasn't been sleeping well AT ALL the last few weeks.  But last night he slept from 11pm-7:30am!!!!!!  I couldn't believe it!  Then he ate and I put him in the bed with us and he slept from 8am-almost 9am.  He woke up in a good mood...which has been rare here lately.  So I am hoping the medicine is working as far as taking some of the pressure and pain away.  But the doctor told us that it wouldn't heal his ears.  So anyway, now that I have rambled on about that...I will go.  It's a rainy day today...perfect for straightening up the house.  Talk with yall later!

Jon Kent's first fireworks show!

It went VERY well!  I really thought Jon Kent would start freaking out once the fireworks started.  But he didn't.  He just watched them the whole time.  I was so proud.  I got him on video and with the digi camera.  I hope yall enjoy the pictures!!

What a day!!

Today was a full day!  But honestly, I love days like today.  Where I always have something to do.  No just sitting around (although I like to do that from time to time) and getting nothing done.  I cleaned the whole house from top to bottom.  Dusting, sweeping, straightening, mopping, vacuuming (OK, Kent did that), washing clothes, washing dishes, watering my flowers and Granny's flowers (more like Granny's botanical gardens), and just getting everything in the house in order.  It felt great!  By the time I was done cleaning it was time for Jon Kent's lunch (squash and bananas).  He ate while Kent and my lunch was cooking.  Then Kent and I had lunch.  After lunch the three of us all ran around town paying bills.  Then it was time to go swimming.  We swam for about an hour or so before a thunderstorm blew in.  By that time though Jon Kent was tired so he had his bottle and took a nap.  After his nap we took him to my parent's for the night.  Then Kent and I went back to his parent's house and had supper.  We all just sat around after eating and watched some TV.  Now Kent and I are home and I still have about two loads of clothes left to dry and fold.  But it was a very tiring but good day.

Tomorrow my town is having the fireworks show at the park.  I *think* my parents are going and if so, then Jon Kent and I will also be going.  Kent has to work...  I'm looking forward to the fireworks though.  I want to see how Jon Kent reacts to it.  He doesn't scare easily.  But I don't know if he will like the loud sounds of it all.  We'll see!

OH!  Jon Kent is crawling now.  Well, semi-crawling.  He pushes with just one foot and then drags that foot when he moves.  It's really cute.  He also is "walking" around the house now.  He pushes the laundry basket around and walks behind it.  I actually got it on video tape today.  He is the cutest thing!

Anyway, yall enjoy the pictures of our busy day!!  Have a great and safe weekend!!
