Happy Halloween

I hope everyone is having a 'Boo'tiful day.  Ha,ha,ha.  Sorry, couldn't help myself.  Anywho, the kids went trick or treating last night since tonight is Wednesday and we all have church.  We only go to grandparents' houses and to great grandparents' houses, so it wasn't a big deal.  The kids had a good time and they both racked up with lots of candy and other goodies.  Jon Kent asked me again today if we were going to go "Halloweening" tonight.  He's a cutie!

Well, I'm 18 weeks pregnant as of today.  I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 2:30pm for an ultrasound and hopefully we will find out the sex of the baby.  I'm hoping this little one isn't shy and shows us his/her goods!  I'll update once we get home and settled tomorrow evening.

I hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Homeschoolin'

Kent and I were out on a date the other night and we swung by Office Max to grab something for Kent's work.  Romantic, no?  Anyway, Kent was off looking at stuff and I was just browsing around.  I came to the preschool section and was looking at some of the books.  They had several different workbooks to choose from that taught kids ages 2-4 different things.  Letters, colors, numbers, etc.  So I grabbed one that was for ages 2-4 and that was supposed to get the child ready for preschool.  So today while we were eating breakfast I told Jon Kent that we were going to do some school at home today.  Because we haven't enrolled them in the "Mommy's Day Out" program yet because they were both sick last week and then this week they are going to get their flu shots.  So we are putting it off for another week.  Anyway, when I said the word school that boy's face lit up and he was ready!  So after we cleaned up from breakfast I got the little workbook out and tore out a page.  I set us up a little area on the kitchen table where he could do his "school" while Zoey colored.  Anyway, we only did one page today because I thought for sure he would be bored with it.  But he wasn't!  He did everything and once I explained how to do something like draw a line matching the two color trains to each other, he could do it!  I was just so proud of him!  After he was through with that, he colored with Zoey.  Then we went to read and play a little bit before nap time.  I'm trying to get them both into a routine of eating, learning, playing, nap, etc.  It won't be every single day but at least most.  So when they do start going to school they will be used to some form of a routine.  Anyway, I'm just proud of my little boy.  Because that's what he is, a boy.. he's certainly growing out of being a baby.. but he'll always be MY baby.. sniff, sniff.

Craft Time

Lately the weather has been a bit chilly to play in, so we have been having to stay indoors.  The afternoons are saved for outdoor playtime, so I really needed to come up with some more creative things to do while we were all inside.  So that is where construction paper always comes in handy.  The kids have been having fun in the last couple of days.  We are on a Halloween theme currently.  Once the holiday passes I'm sure we'll do something with a turkey in it.  =)  So anyway yall enjoy!!

17 weeks

I'm 17 weeks today.  One week from tomorrow we will hopefully be finding out whether our little caboose is a boy or a girl.  I'm looking forward to knowing what the baby is so we can start seriously looking at names.  We have a few, but so far none that Kent and I both have settled and agreed on.  Well, I'm pretty sure we have a girl's name but no sight of a boy's name so far.  Usually by now we have a name picked out for each.  I guess since this is our 3rd, we are kind of running out of names.  Anyway, I'm also feeling sickly again.  Ugh.  I thought it was something I ate yesterday, as I was in the bathroom last night from 1:30am-3:30am.  But now I'm starting to feel gaggy again and my stomach is doing flips..  I'm hoping it's just a passing type thing and won't be here long.  I thought I was done with all that mess!

The weather here has finally cooled off.  Actually it's pretty chilly.  Going from the 80s to the high 50s in a few short days is crazy.  But I'll take the cooler weather over the hot weather any day when I'm pregnant!  Hot days are just miserable!

Well, I guess I better go.  The kids are having an indoor picnic and it looks like they are finishing up.  I'll type at yall later!!

Update:  I added some pictures from this afternoon.

Jon Kent Singing

I took this video this morning after breakfast.  He was using his blocks as drums and singing Joey's Jumping on the bed.  He was really cute and he thought he could see himself singing on the camera.. LIVE.. he didn't quite understand that I had to record it first.  And yes, at the end he is crying but he quickly got over it once he saw himself on the camera. So all is well!  Enjoy the video!

Timeout Cutie!

We currently have no water pressure.  Well, we never have actual water pressure without our pump, to pump the water up the hill.  But even with the pump the water pressure is still low.  I heard Kent talking to the water department early this morning and they were supposed to send someone out sometime after 7am.  It's 8:17am right now and I haven't seen anyone or heard from anyone either.  Not to mention we can't flush the toilets right now and that's making potty training fun.  Jon Kent doesn't understand why he can't flush the toilet and I just keep telling him it's broken.  And then Zoey usually tries to help and she REALLY doesn't understand why she can't help flush the toilet.  I'm hoping it's fixed soon as I have about 4 loads of laundry to do, a kitchen floor to mop and some tea to make.

I took some pictures of Zoey in timeout Saturday night.  She looked so cute.  I forget why she was in timeout though.  I'm sure she either was hitting her brother or told me no after telling her to do something.  Timeouts usually work for us though.  The kids hate being still in one spot for any length of time, so it works.

We are supposed to get rain all day to day.  We really, really, really need it as we are in a serious drought.  On the news they were talking about if we didn't get any decent amount of rain by the summer, how they might have to start restricting indoor water usage.  They already have some restrictions on outdoor usage (not in my area though.. yet).  So any rain we get is good, but we need A LOT!

Week 16

Today I'm 16 weeks pregnant.  I took some belly shots thinking you could see a difference but after looking at them, they don't seem much different from the last set I posted. =/  I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  Anyway, enjoy!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 8

This past Saturday my parents decided to throw Jon Kent a "poopie party".. for pooping on the potty.  Yes it seems ridiculous, but Jon Kent was very excited!  He had a chocolate cake (poopie cake) and we even put a candle on it.  You would have thought it was his birthday.  However, he hasn't (until this evening) poopied since last Friday.  So that would be 4 days ago.  So today after him sitting on the potty and whining/crying that it hurt I called his doctor.  She told us to give him a suppository.  So I went and bought some and brought them home and showed him.  I told him if he didn't poopie that I was goingto stick one of them up his booty.  He didn't seem to care, so later I put on some rubber gloves and did the deed.  Fun times man, fun times.  So finally after 4 days and lots of begging, he poopied.  And boy did he poopie.  I had another gagging fit but in the end we had a happy boy again.  I'm hoping he has learned his lesson about holding his poopie.  Because if not, he has a whole bottle left of his "booty pills" that I'll man on some more rubber gloves and give him.  *gag*

On a side note:  AOL is being a pain in MY booty and isn't letting me update my journal through my regular AOL.  I'm having to get on IE and go to AOL.com and do it that way.  How STUPID is that!?!?!  I guess when it's free they give you just about the crappiest service.  If it wasn't for this journal and all the memories and facts that I have in it, I would be done with AOL all together.  And maybe, just maybe I'll get unlazy and just copy and paste all my entries into a separate folder or whatever and go to blogspot and start a journal there.  Although I highly doubt AOL would care!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 4

Well, today went just as well as yesterday.  We had no accidents.  He woke up dry from the night and from his nap.  He didn't poopie so we will probably have to deal with that sometime tomorrow, but he is doing pretty good.  He is telling us when he has to go and then he will sit on his potty and go.  I couldn't be more proud of how this has gone.. especially seeing how it all started.  I guess once it clicked it just clicked.  I'm fairly sure he will still have some accidents along the way, but I think he has his fundamentals down pretty well.  So I'm pretty excited about that.  I'm going to call the Mommy's Day Out program next week and get him and Zoey signed up.  That should be an experience in and of itself.  I'll keep you updated on that!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 3

OK.  So the day started off as usual.  Jon Kent peed in the potty this morning.  I had some errands to run so I put him in a pull-up and told him that they were still big boy underwear and he wasn't to pee or poop in them.  So we are out and about in town for a little over an hour or so.  I kept asking if he had to go potty and he kept telling me no.  While in town I picked up a Thomas the Tank Engine learning toy (laptop type thing) and told him that he could have it when he pooped in the potty.  He was pretty excited about it.  So we get home and I put the toy on the bathroom window seal where he could see it but couldn't reach it.  I sat him down on the potty and noticed his pull-up was still dry.  So I figured he would have to pee by now.  So we wait and wait.  But no pee-pee.  So he goes down for a nap.  After he wakes up, I noticed he was still dry.  So I went and sat him on the potty.  And he immediately peed.  Yay!  He went the rest of the afternoon and evening not peeing or pooping.  So we go to church.  I tell his teachers that we are potty training and to offer to take him to the potty.  So they did.  But he never went and when we got home he was still dry.  I knew the boy had to at least have to pee.  By this time it had been about 5 hours.  So we went to the potty but he never did anything.  He would get up, run around for a bit and then say he had to potty.  After doing this a couple of times, he told me he wanted to "frow up".  So I knew his tummy must be hurting him.  Plus, he had broken out in a cold sweat on his forehead.  He finally got up again without going and played a little bit, but he kept telling Kent his stomach hurt.  So Kent took him back into the bathroom and sat him down and tried to talk him through it.  When the poop finally started coming out Kent said Jon Kent looked scared (LOL) and tried to stand up.  But Kent sat him back down and finally he pooped!  YAY!!!!!  He was so proud of himself.  AND he got his Thomas toy!!!!  I'm hoping now that he has gotten his first poop out of the way, he won't be so scared to poop in the potty.  Anyway, of course we had to call the grandparents and tell them.  Everybody was pretty proud.  So let's recap.. Jon Kent-0, Potty-4.  Woot-woot!!!  No accidents today!!!!

A Break from the Chronicles

We are still on the potty train, but I'm going to try and wait until the day is complete to actually update.  But for a sneak preview, he has done well so far today.  No accidents.

I'm fall cleaning this week.  So far it's going pretty slowly.  I've got all the closets cleaned out and straightened.  I still have to go through the kids' toys and weed out the younger toys to make room for toys they are sure to get for their birthdays and Christmas.  I have washed all the windows and base boards and wiped down all the doors.  And that's it.  The rest of the cleaning is my basic cleaning just a little bit more detailed.  Sounds fun doesn't it!?!?!

Today I am 15 weeks pregnant.  I'll take a picture next week to show you my growth, or better yet the baby's growth.  Over the past couple of days I have seemed to "pop".  So the next picture should be a big difference from the last.

Well, that's it for now.  I hope to be around tonight with a great report on my little potty trainer!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 2 (almost complete)

Good report of the day.. my eye isn't twitching.

Jon Kent, so far, has only had 1 accident.  Unfortunately it had to be a poop accident, but he did at least try.  He has gone to the potty (pee wise) twice so far today.  He had a pull-up on for his nap and it was wet when he got up from his nap.  He was so proud that he pottied.  It was the cutest thing.  He did tell me several times that he needed to go potty, but once we got there- nothing.  I think he was feeling the feeling of having to poop but just never could.  But alas when he did have to poop he went into a corner and I found him there probably 2 seconds too late.  At least I didn't almost throw up this time.  So to recap.. Potty-2, Jon Kent-1.. so far.

Update @ 8:57pm:  The day didn't end so well.  We had 3 more accidents.  So Jon Kent-4, Potty-2.

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 1

I'll apologize ahead of time for any errors or grammar mistakes I may make in this entry.  As I'm having to type with a twitching eye.  If only I WAS joking...

Well, today was day one of Jon Kent's potty training.  And from here, there is no turning back.  We have told him that there will be no more diapers and that he is to use the potty from here on out.  His reward at the end of this(when he is moderately trained) is that he gets to go to school.  There is a Mommy's Day Out program in my area that we have been looking at sending the kids to once or twice a week.  So they can interact with other kids their ages.  Anyway, he gets all excited about it every time we remind him of his potty training goal.

OK, so the day starts off well.  He has on his big boy underwear that he picked out and we are good to go.  After we eat breakfast I smell something.  I thought it was Zoey but I was wrong.  It was Jon Kent.  He pooped in his underwear.  I take him to the bathroom to get cleaned up.  And while I'm getting the poop out of his underwear I come this close (__) from throwing up.  Now, I've been changing diapers for almost 3 years now and have never come as close as I did today to puking.  Anyway, I get him cleaned up and remind him again that we don't pee or poop in our underwear.  So we go out to play.  I ask several times if he has to pee or poop.  "No" he says.  A little bit later.. a river breaks free from his Spiderman undies and off we go to change.  I'm still reminding him pee is for the potty not our underwear.  So a little while later he comes running into the living room telling me he pottied!!  He was so excited.  "I sit on the potty momma!!!".  Well, he did, only he didn't take his shorts or underwear off before doing so.  Change number 3..  Nap time.  Oh sweet nap timePULL-UPS!!!!!!!!!!!  After nap he wakes up and he eats.  We go to sit on the potty and he pees!  Only a little, but I'll take it.  He tells me he is through so off we go back outside to play.  2 minutes later... TWO MINUTES LATER... he is peeing all over the garage!  Grrr.. off we go to change.  Kent's grandparents wanted to keep the kids this afternoon.  I warned them about our situation and told them that if they didn't want to deal with the first few days of potty training that it was fine for the kids to stay at home.  But they said they wanted them anyway.  So off to their house they went.  Kent's grandparents have a little potty, so it was all good.  Well, Jon Kent peed on their couch.. =X  Good thing it's leather.  Later on he did finally, finally pee in the potty and a lot of pee at that!  YAY!!!!  So lets recap.. Jon Kent-5, Potty-2.

Thus the twitch in my eye.  Oy!!!  But there always has to be a first day.. things will get better.. things will get better.. things will get better.. things will get better...

1, 2, 3, 4 weeks and counting

I went today for my 14th week check-up.  I gained 1.5 pounds over the past 4 weeks.  So that puts my grand total to 4.5 pounds.  All my lab stuff came back fine.  My blood pressure was slightly elevated but the doctor said that I should worry about it unless it continues to be that way past the 20 week mark.  He said it could just be my hormones.  So we are just going to keep an eye on things for awhile.  Hopefully it's nothing.  Anyway, we listened to the heartbeat and it was in the 160's so that was great.  I go back in 4 weeks for another appointment and to have another ultrasound.  Hopefully the baby will work with us and we will be able to see what s/he is.  That date is set for November 1st.  Well, that's my update.  So let the countdown begin.  Four weeks and counting!

The Blame Game

You know, it's quite easy to blame someone else for your own doings.  Whether they are right or wrong isn't the point.  Although it's much, much easier when you are wrong.  I'm finding in my own life and my own circle of people that the blame game goes on pretty often.  It's not something we always realize we are doing.  Sometimes we just think we are protecting a loved one or a close friend.  But really we are hurting them more than we are helping.  I know I've done it.  More times than I am probably comfortable telling.  For example, one of the kids falls and hurts their head.  I run over and make sure they are OK.  And the second I realize they are, I turn to Kent and say, "Why weren't you watching them?"  When I know good and well it was a simple accident that happens and I too was in the room, so I too should have been more careful in watching them.  But I still chose to blame Kent.  The blame game.  I guess my point in all of this is, to be careful when trying to pass the blame onto someone else.  It's easy to point fingers but as the old saying goes, "You may be pointing your finger at someone else but you have three more pointing back at you."

*~*~*~*~*

My parents bought the kids their Halloween costumes.  Jon Kent is "Thomas the Tank Engine" and Zoey is "Elmo".  We tried their costumes on last night at my parents' house and they both loved them.  Zoey was kind of scared of her's at first, but once she realized that Elmo wasn't going to hurt her, she was good to go.  This morning after they both got up for the morning Jon Kent and Zoey both wanted to put their costumes on.  So I let them.  Might as well get the money's worth out of them.  They wore them around for at least 30 minutes or more.  Just running around and playing.  They are going to be a cute pair come trick-or-treat time!

Right before the kids took their naps, I decided I was going to do a quick vacuum throughoutthe house.  Jon Kent told me he was going to sit in his chair in his room and listen to the birds.  I had the windows up and there was a nice cool breeze blowing through.  He told me he was tired and was just going to rest.  So I go off to vacuum while he rested and while Zoey was playing in her room.  By the time I got back to his room (which was probably 10 minutes later) he was knocked out!  He had fallen asleep in his chair.  It was such a sweet sight.  I hated to wake him up to put him in his bed for nap time.  I took a couple of pictures from this morning and from Jon Kent's "resting".  I hope yall enjoy them!

Monday, October 1, 2007

Hmm, a whole week.

So it seems I have been a bad journaler.  Is there some corner I could stand in?  Anyway, honestly there isn't much to talk about.  Well, there is, but nothing I would want to put into a public journal.  My life is pretty day by day and nothing really changes.

Yesterday was my nephew's first birthday party.  They had a moon bouncer type thing for the kids to jump in, which they seemed to enjoy.  My nephew was the cutest playing with his cake and getting all messy.  Zoey helped out a little bit too.  He got a lot of new toys and clothes.  His Auntie Em (me) made sure he got SOMETHING that made noise because we were so happily blessed with the "Wiggles Guitar" two years ago and we are STILL listening to it.. those are some good batteries!  So I thought it only fair to return the favor!  ;)

The main reason I haven't been around too much is because I've been working on consignment stuff.  I'm trying to get all the kids' fall/winter clothes that don't fit anymore priced so they will be ready to go Thursday.  I've been taking it a little bit day by day.  Because the last time consignment rolled around I waited until the last minute and ended up having to do EVERYTHING by myself because Kent was sick as a dog for like 3 days.  Not that I wanted him to help with the consignment part but taking care of the kids would have been nice.  But he really was sick, so I just closed our bedroom door and the kids and I just went through the clothes and I somehow got through it all in time.  But this time, I'm not going to get stuck like that!  I've gone through probably half of their clothes so far and I hope to be finished by Thursday.

I also have an OB doctor appointment Thursday at 9:15am.  It will be my 14 week check-up.  I'm hoping that we get to schedule my ultrasound appointment.

Well, that's it for now.  I hope everyone is having a great day and Happy October!
