Last Day of 2007

2007 wasn't a jammed packed year.  It had its ups and downs.  Its happy moments and its sad moments.

Kent got a promotion at work.  His GS-8.  He was also named "Officer of the Year".  A high honor.  He started working on the computer side of the prison system and even as this goes to "press" he is typing up his resume for a large promotion within the computer side.  Let's hope he gets it!  Kent and I celebrated 5 years of marriage this year.  We also celebrated the creation of another life inside of me.  We found out July 27th that we would be expecting our third and certainly last child.  We soon found out that our last baby would be a boy, Nathan Tyler.  He will be the last piece of our family puzzle.

Jon Kent has done a lot of growing this year.  Not so much height and weight wise as he has only gained 2 pounds and grown an inch.  But intellectually he has taken leaps and bounds.  He loves to do "school" every morning after breakfast.  He knows how to count to twenty now.  He knows his ABC's.  Can recognize all his letters and numbers and even knows some simple addition.  He can remember so much and recalls most stories we tell him.  He also was potties trained in two days this past October.  He stills sleeps with his pappy (paci) but we are hoping that will disappear sometime in 2008.  I'm looking forward to seeing how much more he grows and learns in the coming year.

Zoey has grown a lot this year as well.  She is talking like a 3 year old or better.  She has tried the potty a few times but for now she is content to still use her diaper.  She can count to about 12 and she can say her whole alphabet.  Most of her days are spent following her brother around and playing with her dolls.  She isn't *as into school type things has Jon Kent is, but she will tolerate it as long as she is getting some attention from it.  Zoey loves to color and draw.  She loves all things princess and Elmo.  She is still a momma's girl but in the recent days/weeks she has come to call for her daddy more.  She still loves to drink her "baba" and play with my ear.  It's something she has done practically her whole life.  I guess I'm her comfort blankie.  Zoey had her first hair cut this year and her first dentist appointment.  Both went well.

As for our family as a whole we are doing well.  We are still learning and growing as we go.  In the past year we have enjoy two vacations with family.  One in June to the beach with my family and then another in September to the mountains with Kent's family.  Both were enjoyable and full of memories.  Memories that Jon Kent will still bring up on any random day.  I'm thankful for the blessings God has given us.  We haven't had any *bad health problems and we have been blessed with a nice home and loving family.  I'm thankful for all I have been given and all that I have been saved from.  God has been good to our family even though we don't deserve it.  I was blessed with a whole year to be with my family and to fall more in love with my husband.  So 2007 may not have been jammed packed with activities but it has been full of growth and learning and love.

Updating on previous entry

OK, so for the most part the bleeding is gone.  *whew*  But it has reshown itself about twice today.  Still the brown or old blood.  So I'm thinking it's still nothing.  I've had some cramping but I think it's more stress induced than anything else.  I don't recall having any more contractions today.  If so they were minor and unnoticeable.  So I'm just going to continue to take it as easy as possible and I'll bring it up to my OB at my next appointment.  If it seems to get worse in the coming days I'll just give my OB's office a call and see what we need to do.  But so far so good.

In other news, the kids have colds.. again.  What's new?!!?  I would just say, "Oh we'll just let it run its course." but I did that last time and it turned into walking pneumonia and then Jon Kent picked up strep from somewhere.  So I will probably give a call to their pediatricians office tomorrow if they wake up coughing like they have the last couple of days.  They both have pretty heavy running noses and a bad cough.  So we'll see tomorrow morning and go from there.

Well, I guess that does it for my updates today.  I hope to get on tomorrow and get an entry typed up about our year in 2007.  Stay tuned.

Tiny, tiny scare

Today I went to the bathroom and looked down at my panties (always do this even when not pregnant... habit after losing two babies to miscarriage) and there is this big clot of blood.. most of it was brown, old looking blood but there was some red mixed in.  When I wiped it game out a pinkish, red.  So I call the OB's emergency line and a nurse calls me back.  She told me to just put my feet up for a few hours and then see it the bleeding continues.  If it did continue I was to call them back and we would go from there.  I knew it was probably nothing but since I've never had it happen to me before this late in a pregnancy I wasn't going to chance it.  I had also been having more braxton hicks (false contractions.. it's the way the body "practices" for labor) in the last couple of days.  Anyway, after a few hours of having my feet up and having a couple of laughs (Kent having to herd the kids around while he was trying to get his things done... a.k.a typical day for me) the bleeding quit.  So I was thankful for that.  Hopefully it won't return and I can continue with my uneventful pregnancy.

Date Night with the Hubs

Kent and I had a date night last night.  First one we've had in awhile.  So it was nice.  Kent's grandparents kept the kids for us and they spent the night with them as well.  We really didn't do too much or anything special.  We went to Target and looked over their baby selection.  We were looking for Nathan a carseat since the one Jon Kent and Zoey used has seen its better days.  We didn't find one in the store that we liked but they do have one on their web site that I am going to get him.  We also got Nathan like 3 sleepers, a shirt and pant set, some onesies, pappies (pacis), a diaper bag and then some attachments to go with my breast pump.  Oh and a new boppy cover.  Then we headed over to the mall to grab something to eat.  We ate and talked and then walked around.  We stopped in the Gap and grabbed Nathan some more clothes.  He got like 2 or 3 shirts and a sleeper.  They were all on the sales rack so we got it all pretty cheap.  I love, love, love Gap baby clothes.  They are all so soft and comfy feeling.  They had a lot of other cute things but I know once their summer stuff comes in they will put all that other stuff on sale.  So I'm waiting for them to do that before I buy him some more spring type things.  After getting the clothes from Gap we went to watch a movie.  We went to see "I Am Legend".  Let me say this about that movie.  It's a good movie as far as the story line goes and all that.  But it is VERY suspenseful.  Like by the end of the movie your whole body will hurt from being tense the whole entire time.  Even Kent jumped several times and even yelled out once.  I was so tense the entire time that if someone on the movie even slammed a door I would jump.  I'm not a fan of those types of movies though.  Give me a love drama over that any day!  After the movie we headed over to Books-A-Million to get a book Kent has been tracking down for months now.  We finally found it.  Then we headed home.  We both slept in this morning (til 8:30am.. that is sleeping in for us.. lol).  Then we went outside and started cleaning out our storage building.  Then around 10am I went to get the kids.  They are both home now and sleeping.  After they get up we will probably eat some lunch and then play outside.  It's nice and sunny out and only slightly chilly.  It's been a good weekend thus far.  I'm enjoying it since it's the first weekend that hasn't been packed with things that have to be done or places to go to.  Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good weekend as well.

26th week Appointment

I am 26 weeks, 1 day pregnant.  I went today to get my glucose testing done.  It was only the one hour test.  Hopefully I passed it and won't have to take the three hour test.  I gained 6 pounds (yes, 6 pounds in FOUR weeks), blood pressure was 102/60 so that was good.  Nathan's heart rate was 166, also good.  My belly was measuring right on for 26 weeks.  So all in all (minus the weight gain) it was a good appointment.  I go back in 4 weeks.  And if I haven't heard back by Monday from the lab about my test results, then that means I passed.  So here's hoping I don't hear back from them.

I also scheduled my 3D/4D ultrasound today.  It's just a keepsakes type thing, not for medical reasons.  Anyway, I have an appointment on January 5 at 12pm.  I'm so excited!  It will be on a Saturday so Kent won't have to miss work and we can just spend the day together and get to see our littlest little man.  So cool!  Anyway, enjoy my mess of pictures and my belly shots as well.

Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!!

We have had a great Christmas so far!  Last night my parents, brother, sister-in-law and nephew all came over.  We ate and exchanged gifts and just spent time together.  It was a really good time.  The kids racked up with clothes and toys.  They each have been playing with all their Christmas Eve goodies.   Kent and I got a lot of goodies too; gift cards, clothes, etc.  After everyone left the kids each picked out a cookie to give to Santa and I filled him a glass of milk.  They took their baths and off to bed they went.  Jon Kent jumped and danced the whole time I was getting his PJs on.  He was very excited!  Both kids went to sleep fairly quickly.  Then it was time to play Santa's elves..  Kent did very well.  He got the kids Jeep put together in less than 2 hours.  But sooner than I was expecting!  I had a bet that by midnight he was calling his daddy to come help him.  But he did very well!  After all the toys were set out, Kent and I exchanged gifts.  I gave him a polo dress shirt and a casual type shirt, some underoos (lol) and some undershirts.  He is looking at getting certified for scuba so his Christmas was smaller than usual this year.  Kent got me some new shoes (he picked them out all by himself!), a pair of earrings and a necklace.  The necklace almost made me cry because it had two parents holding hands with their three children.  It's kind of of like a mother's necklace.  I didn't take a picture of it.  I'll have to eventually to show you what I'm talking about.  I thought it was really sweet of him though.  Anyway, we finally got into bed a little after midnight and waited for the kids to start getting up.  Which didn't take long because Zoey was in our bed by 1:30am.  But I quickly took her back to her bed.  Thankfully we covered their jeep with a blanket.. otherwise she may have seen it.  Anyway, at 6:30am both kids were up and we got them all ready to see their goodies from Santa.  Jon Kent got some play swords, remote controlled helicopter, remote controlled car, some jeans and his Jeep  (which he is afraid of.. or at least afraid to press the gas).  Zoey got a Cinderella doll, some dress up clothes, a doodle pad, some shirts and the jeep as well (Zoey isn't afraid of the gas pedal.. she just can't reach it.. lol).  We are fixing to head over to Kent's parents' house for lunch and exchange gifts with them.  It's raining here (which we are very thankful for!) so we may have to wait to take the Jeep for a test drive.  Maybe the rain will move before lunch time.. for just long enough for us to take the Jeep on a ride.  We'll see.  After lunch it will be nap time and then we are going over to my MawMaw's house to eat supper and spend time with my dad's extended family.  Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back later tonight or tomorrow with more pictures!

Cookie Cutters

Tonight the kids made cookies.. with a little help from us.  We listened to Christmas music and made cookies and they really seemed to have a good time with it.  We hope to make a tradition of it.. hopefully it will stick.  Anyway, enjoy the pictures!!

Pictures of last night's gathering

These are from last night.  The kids did well and got several toys that they have been playing with for most of the day.  Which is good because it means they aren't bored from having to stay inside.  It was supposed to get some what warm today (65) but never got out of the 50s I'm assuming because it was cold (cold for a southerner).  Tonight we went out to eat and we saw some flurries.. they were tiny, tiny though.  Anyway, enjoy the pictures!!

Weekend Plans

Tonight starts the Christmas festivities.  The next 4 days I'm sure will fly by.  But it's always such a good time and one that I look forward to.  So, tonight we are having a family gathering with Kent's dad's immediate family.  We all each draw one name and bring that person a gift.  The babies all get bought for as do Granny and Pawpaw.  We usually have snacky type foods.. chili, soups, dips, chips, sandwiches, etc.  The kids get spoiled as usual and this year we have a new baby, Macie, who will be having her first Christmas.  So it's exciting.  Saturday Kent is off and we will probably just stay at home and do odds and ends.  I will probably go grocery shopping and grab last minute items.  Saturday night we are going to bake cookies with the kids and decorate them.  I'm looking forward to starting this as a yearly tradition with them.  Sunday is church, but Kent has to work that morning so he won't be there. =(  But he will be there Sunday night, and will be off for both Christmas Eve and Christmas.  We are having the Lord's Supper Sunday night.  Monday (Christmas Eve) I'll be cleaning and cooking for most of the day.  That night my immediate family (momma, daddy, brother, sister-in-law, nephew) will be coming over to my house to eat and exchange presents.  We will be having snacky type foods that night too.  Then after the kids are in bed Kent and I will probably exchange presents and then get the kids toys put out and together.  Jon Kent is so looking forward to seeing what Santa brought.  He keeps asking if Santa is coming and when.  I'm looking forward to seeing his and Zoey's faces on Christmas morning.  That reminds me, I need to charge the camcorder...  Christmas morning the kids will see their gifts and get to play with them for a bit.  Then we will probably walk up to Kent's parent's house or they walk down to ours to exchange gifts with each other.  The rest of the day will be for laying around and playing with all our new goodies.  Then Christmas evening we will go over to my Mawmaw's house (daddy's side) for Christmas dinner.  And that will wrap up our Christmas events!!  Whew!!  I'm sure over the next couple of days I will be sharing pictures with yall so come back for updates with those!!

25 weeks and some pictures

I'm 25 weeks pregnant today. I'm starting to feel it too.  My back is hurting me like crazy today but I don't know if it's just out of whack or if it's being caused by the baby.  Either way it hurts.  I think I must have slept weird last night because for most of yesterday I was fine but I woke up today walking all funny.  I can't put a lot of pressure on my right side.  Hopefully it will get better as the day passes.  Nathan is moving like crazy now.  He's apparently running out of room because when he moves now my whole stomach shifts.  I'll have a huge lump on one side and then he'll move and my stomach does the wave and then I'll have a huge lump on the other side.  I go next week (27th) for a doctor's appointment and to get my glucose testing done.

Yesterday my mom and I took the kids to get their pictures taken.  At first it didn't go so well.  Jon Kent started crying and Zoey flat our refused to smile.  But after getting some more people to help him, the photographer was able to get the kids laughing and smiling.  By the end of the session they both were doing very well.  As you can see in the pictures.  They took like 68 shots of the kids, which is way more than any other place we have ever been to, so I was really able to pick my favorites and get some really good pictures.  And bonus, all our pictures were ready in about 30 minutes!  So enjoy!!

Some randoms

I have been taking pictures over the past few weeks trying to get a decent one for the cards.  So I have a lot of different ones to share with yall.  So enjoy those!

Tomorrow my mom and I are taking the kids to get their Christmas pictures done.  It's done at one of those places that has your pictures ready for you in about an hour.  So I'm excited about that and it will also wrap up the rest of the presents for family.

This year we weren't as, ummm, extravagant with our present purchases.  I know it's not about the gift per se but I like to find that "perfect" gift for everyone and sometimes that take more $$$.  But maybe not.. maybe I am just being paranoid that no one will like their presents this year.  I don't know.  We did put a lot of thought into them so in the end that's all that matters.

Well, I guess I will end this random entry here.  I'll talk with yall later!!

Why I don't drink..

Kent's work party was tonight.  He was also named the new president of the employee's club so we felt obligated to go.  Kent's dad works at the same place so him and my mother-in-law went as well.  It was actually pretty amusing.  There was a DJ there and we dance (to the slow songs anyway) and ate.  A bunch of people brought alcohol, which was expected.  I just sat back and waited for them to get drunk and it didn't take long.  The way those people were acting is the reason I don't drink.  I would act stupid after the first sip.  It was getting pretty crazy right before we left.  Thankfully we had a reason to leave... we had babies to get home to.  Anyway, right before we left they were calling out for door prizes.  Kent's parents had just left and handed us their ticket.  So they call out the first number and it was for $50 to Lowe's.  It was Kent's parents' number.  So Kent goes up there to claim their prize.  Well the guy asked Kent to draw another number for the next prize which was a gas grill.  And lo and behold Kent drew his own number.  Talk about looking like the drawings were rigged.. lol.  So we grabbed our prizes and got out of there before the drunk masses realized what just happened.. lol.  Anyway, it was a pretty good time but it does reminds me why I'm a homebody.. lol.

Zoey's 1st Haircut

Zoey got her first haircut today.  She did very well.  I only wanted to get the hair out of her eyes and for her to get an all over trim.  So that isn't a huge difference in the before and after's.  She acted like a big girl the whole time and loved getting all prettied up and pampered.  Jon Kent also got his hair cut as well, as did I.  It was just a day for haircuts!

Nathan

I don't really talk about Nathan too much.  At least not like I did with Jon Kent and Zoey and Jon Kent especially.  I guess the more kids you have the less 'important' all the updates are.  You've lived through them once, twice and then the third time it just slips your mind as being *as* special.  It's still special, all the memories and all, but just doesn't seem as exciting or whatever.  I don't know if any of that makes much sense.  Anyway, today I am 24 weeks pregnant.  I have 4 more weeks of being in the second trimester and then once I hit the third trimester I'm sure things will really seem to fly by.  Nathan is becoming more active as the days tick by.  He seems to be getting stronger with his kicks and punches.  I'm thinking he is still breech because I'm still getting a lot of kicks in my lower belly.  I do know he has flipped a couple of times from breech to head down so he obviously has plenty of room to do so currently.  The other day I was laying down and he was a perfect little ball on my belly.  I kind of cupped my hands around him and "held" him.  It was so sweet.  I believe it was this weekend that it happened, when everything "bad" was happening.  It was a good and peaceful moment that I guess I needed.  Anyway, Nathan only has about 16 more weeks of growing before he will be here in the world.  I already can't wait to see him and see who he looks like and what kind of baby he will be.

Zoey's 1st Dentist Appointment

Zoey and Jon Kent both had dentist appointments today.  It was Jon Kent's 3rd time going and Zoey's 1st.  Jon Kent went back first and he cried and cried and cried.  They like to take them back there alone once they are 3 and he was having none of it.  I felt so bad leaving him but I had to because Zoey was going to be next and I had to go into the room with her.  So anyway, by the time we get back there with Zoey, Jon Kent is getting his teeth cleaned and he was still pretty upset.  But the nurses were being so good with him.  Zoey did very well.  She cried only a little bit when I first laid her in the chair but was OK once the hygienist started cleaning her teeth.  The dentist checked both of them and they both have perfect teeth and no cavities!!  They both got a new toothbrush, a sticker, a prize and a balloon.  We go back in June for another check up and cleaning!

Much better today

Whew.  We are all much better here on this Monday morning!  Thank goodness!  It was a long weekend to say the least.  It just all seemed to hit us all at once and I for one am glad it's almost over.  Jon Kent hasn't had a fever since Saturday and he started eating better yesterday.  I'm sure the poor child has lost some weight, which he really didn't need to do.  He finally got a cup of milk this morning and was thrilled.  Over the past few days all he has been allowed to drink was water, tea and sprite.  And he was tired of all three by Saturday evening.  But I wasn't about to clean up milk puke again if I didn't have to.  Anyway, Zoey is doing well too.  She is just bored.  She wasn't feeling as bad but since she had been exposed to the germs she had to stick around with us all weekend too.  Both of the kids hate taking their medicine.  Although Zoey will do it and get it over with, Jon Kent will start crying and whining as soon as he sees me shaking the medicine bottle up.  But the last few times he has done better.  We only have about 6 or 7 more days with it.  Both kids have dentist appointments tomorrow which their doctor said they would be fine to go to.  It will be Jon Kent's 3rd or 4th time going and Zoey's first.  Also this week the kids are getting their hair cut.  It will be Zoey's first time at that as well.  So we have a lot to do so I'm really glad the kids are doing so much better!

Quick, quick

Both kids are doing better.  Jon Kent's fever seems to be just about gone.  He had a low grade one this afternoon/early evening so it's better than the 100s we were dealing with yesterday and the day before.  Zoey is acting normal except for her cough and the fact that she has a attitude and takes the title as "princess" way too seriously.  But she is still sweet.  Just really likes to get on her brother's nerves.  The medicine taking isn't going too well.  Jon Kent hates the texture of it and refuses to swallow most of it.  It's "sandy" like no matter how much you shake it up.  He gags and throws up and all that.  But he did do a bit better with it tonight.  Only 8 1/2 more days until we are done taking it.  Both kids are peacefully sleeping now and I'm heading that way too.  I woke up this morning and my body flat out refused to keep going, so Kent got up with the kids and let me sleep in.  I also took a nap while they took one this afternoon.  I actually left CLEAN laundry in the basket to get all wrinkled and took a nap.  *gasp*  But whatever.  It got folded and no one was hurt.. so whatever.  Anyway, that's my quick update.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers!

Maybe if I play dead no one will wake me

OK, so good news is the kids don't have chicken pox.  The bad news is they both have walking pneumonia and Jon Kent has strep throat.  He was running a fever last night of 103.  And he still is running one now once his fever medicine wears off.  Both kids are on antibiotics for 10 days and hopefully we will nip this stuff in the bud and quickly.  Sorry for such a short update but I'm exhausted and I still have a ton of stuff to do while Jon Kent is asleep and Zoey is playing happily by herself.

Bawk, bawk

We think the kids might have the chicken pox.  Zoey has some spots on her back and left arm.  She ran a fever this past weekend and now the spots.  And now Jon Kent has the fever and no spots so far.  I'm calling the doctor first thing in the morning.  We are going to figure this out one way or another.  Pray for us, please!

I need to clean my nose out

Physically I'm not tired.  I feel fine, physically.  But mentally I'm tired and drained.  It's just been an overall busy week.  Yesterday was the first day that I didn't have something going on for most of the day.  But the kids and I ended up staying outside a lot yesterday.  It was a pretty day and I knew that starting today it would be cold.  So anyway, I hiked and climbed hills and sat and talked about what the clouds looked like.  Then today..  I can sum up the day so far with one word- Puke.  Jon Kent's milked curd puke to be exact.  *gags*  I got up this morning after getting the kids' orders for breakfast.  "Waffles" they say.  So off to cook waffles.  I'm getting Jon Kent up and out of bed and feel his head.  He feels a little hot so I take him temp and it was 100.  OK, he has that fever virus that Zoey had over the weekend.  No biggie.  So we sit down to eat and while I have a bite of waffle in my own mouth, Jon Kent coughs and then proceeds to puke not once or twice but at least four times.  It's all over him, in his hands (where he tried to catch it), all over his chair, in the floor.  So I clean him up and his surrounding as good as I could for the moment then strip him down and give him a bath.  I get him out of the bath and he is shaking and crying because he is cold.  I quickly get some new and clean PJs on him and he gets in my bed to watch cartoons and rest.  He also gets some meds for his fever.  He laid in bed for about 2 hours before announcing that he was hungry.  So I made him a turkey sandwich and he ate about 3 or 4 bites of it.  He has been drinking well all day so I'm not worried about that too much.  He laid down for an actual nap but only slept about 20 minutes before waking up crying and hot again.  Telling me he didn't feel good.  He then start to dry heave and threw up a little into my hand.  Mostly just flem.  He has been on the couch most of the day but did announce that he wanted to do "school".  So we did a page in his workbook and then he colored for a little bit.  But soon it was back to my bed to watch a movie with Zoey.  Now he is back on the couch and I just gave him another dose of Tylenol for his fever.  I feel so bad for him and I know he hates just sitting around.  And Zoey is about to drive all of us crazy.  She can't seem to be quiet and constantly wants attention.  She can't stand the fact that Jon Kent is being petted and snuggled and she can't have it all too.  She doesn't like the fact that Jon Kent gets to take medicine and she doesn't.  She threw a fit earlier this afternoon because I gave her a piece of turkey and she said she didn't want it so I ate it and she cried because "she wanted some."  She didn't take a long nap so I know that will hit her hard around 6pm or so.  Right about the time I am finishing up supper or cleaning up from supper.  And to top all this off, I want Kent to be home and he is at work.  And I HATE the fact that I feel like I need him so much.  As soon as I got Jon Kent in the bath I'm calling Kent.  It drives me crazy that I feel like I need him so much.  I knew exactly what to do and was doing it so why feel the need to call him?  Who knows.. maybe I just needed to talk to someone else and talk my own way through it.  I don't know.  I just know I'm drained now and it's not even evening yet.  I'm also soooo emotional and moody.  Pregnancy hormones I guess.. but it sucks.  At least my house doesn't smell like puke.. or maybe it does and I'm just used to the smell by now.  I do know I've become close friends with my bleach today and have the rough hands to prove it.  I did manage to get all the washing done and get the house in reasonable (puke free) order.  Oh well.. enough of my whining.  I need to get back to my sick baby.

PS:  Is it bad that it's almost 3pm and we are all still in our PJs?

Christmas Parade

Last night we went to our town's Christmas parade.  The kids really enjoyed themselves and they got some candy as well.  This was the first year in several years that they have allowed people to throw candy from the floats and cars.  I think several years ago some kid either choked on some candy or got hit by a car or something like that.  So they quit.  Anyway, the kids really liked the marching bands and would dance when they came by.  Jon Kent really liked the fire trucks and the big 18-wheelers (yes, redneck.. but if you knew my town then it would make sense) that came by honking their horns.  The weather was pretty nice too.  It was cold but not freezing so I just layered the kids clothes and make sure they had their gloves and everyone good to go.  Anyway, I took a few pictures so enjoy! =)

The kids' yearly check ups

I wish there was a tired for mood...  Because I'm tired!!!  The kids had their yearly check ups today.  The appointment was at 10:15am and the doctor is an hour away.  And we got back to the house at 1:30pm.. so that should tell you how long and drawn out this was..

Jon Kent first:  He weighed 32 pounds.  Which puts in the lower 50% for his age group (skinny).  He is 36 inches tall.  Which puts him in the lower 25% for his age group (short).  His blood pressure was good and his eyes and ears checked out well.  His heart sounded good and his lungs sounded clear.  The doctor told me to up his milk intake to 16 oz. and see if that will add some meat to his bones.  If not, well I'm not going to worry about it.  He does eat and he eats a variety of foods, just not all the time.  Plus he is very, very active.  I was skinny when I was little, bony even and so was Kent so I'm not going to worry about it too much unless it just becomes a larger concern.  Otherwise he is a healthy and happy three year old.  Oh and no shots!

Zoey next: She weighed 29 pounds.  Which puts her in the higher 75% for her age (chunky).  She is 34 inches tall.  Which also puts her in the higher 75% for her age (tall).  Her ears, eyes, heart, lungs all checked out fine.  The doctor told me to decrease her milk intake to only 16 oz a day (she loves, loves, loves milk) and to try and get her to take more water.  Well see how that goes.  If she takes to the less milk fine, if not.. we'll try again later.  Again she loves milk and eats regularly.  She is very active and I know eventually she will balance out.  She has always been "healthy" so I'm also not too concerned with her weight for the moment.  If she were lazy or inactive I would worry more but she likes to play just as much as her bubbaZoey also has eczema (sp?) on her body (Jon Kent has always had it on his face) so we are going to switch body washes and see if that makes a difference.  So Zoey is a healthy and happy two year old.  She did have to have one shot.  She cried but was over it fairly quickly.

Unless one of the becomes sick we don't have to go back until their next birthdays.

Happy Birthday Zoey!!!

At 7:07am two years ago today, I gave birth to our little princess, Zoey Taylor.  It has been a very quick two years.  That little girl was an answer to so many prayers (even though when I prayed those prayers it wasn't for another baby, just for an answer.. and she was it).  She is so beautiful inside and out.  She loves her big brother and already gives loves and kisses to her little brother.  EVERY morning she wakes up asks for her 'baba' and gets in the bed with me and snuggles (plays with my ear.. still haven't figured out why she loves my ears so much).  She is very affectionate and will hug anyone.  She does cock a 'tude every now and then but I guess that is just the girl in her.  She is our little princess and she was treated like one alllll day.  I can't tell you how many times we have sang happy birthday to her today.  She would start singing it and then look at us like, "That was your cue!!".  Anyway, Happy Birthday to my little Princess!!!

Day 2 of Zoey's Birthday weekend

Not much to really report.  Oh wait.. I must have forgotten.. eh..

It's 11:30pm last night and I was dogggggg tired.  I hadn't gotten a full night's sleep in two nights and when I climbed into bed last night at 10:30pm I was already dreaming of my blissful sleep.  Anyway, it's 11:30pm and Zoey is in her room crying.  She never cries from waking up.  So I knew something was up.  I go in to console her and she is pretty much asleep.. I felt her head and she was kind of hot to the touch.  But she was back to sleep so I just let her be.  Sidenote here.. I'm a firm believer that the body raises it's temp to find off germs, viruses, etc.  So with a mild fever I will let it run it's course for a few hours as long as it doesn't go up.  Anyway, I go back to sleep.  1:30am Zoey wakes up again crying.  I go in to her room and she is a little hotter this time.  So I go to get the ear thermometer and take her temp.  It was coming back at 99 but I knew it was higher than that.  I usually have to add a degree or two to the ear thermometer to get a more accurate reading.. (I compared it once to the rectal and the rectal thermometer was higher).  So I give her some Tylenol and she sleeps until 6:15ish this morning.  She was still hot after breakfast so I gave her another dose of Tylenol.  We went out to play and to get some fresh air before nap time.  The kids took a nap and so did I.  Zoey has acted fine all day but if you know her you can tell she just doesn't feel great...  So tonight after her bath she just started shaking and had the chills pretty bad.  She started to whine about it and I hurried to get all her clothes on.  She also got some Motrin before bed.  I'm hoping she wakes up feeling better tomorrow, as it is her actual birthday.  I would hate for her to be sick on her birthday.  None the less, both the kids have doctor appointments Monday morning for their yearly check ups so they will both get the once over and make sure everything is OK.  Zoey did get a birthday brownie tonight with two candles in it.  She liked that and loved the brownie.  I still can't believe my baby girl is going to be two tomorrow...

Zoey's start of her birthday weekend

Zoey turns two in two days.  It's amazing to realize how fast time has really flown.  It doesn't feel like it's been two years that is for sure.  I went back into my archives and read Zoey's birth story and I was reading how my "early labor" started on November 30th (today) so it was kind of weird to realize that exactly two years ago today Zoey was making her way into this world.. slowly but surely.

Anyway, tonight my parents took all of us out to eat to celebrate Zoey's birthday.  Zoey was spoiled with gifts and was sang to by the waitresses.  Jon Kent didn't care for the singing too much and almost started to cry.  He is such a shy little boy.  He got really happy though once he realize they brought him a balloon too.  So after that everything was fine.

I took some pictures of the events thus far.  So enjoy!

22 week Doctor's appointment

I had my 22 week OB appt today.  It was fairly uneventful.  I got on the scale and the nurse said, "I see you enjoyed Thanksgiving!".  LOL.  I gained 5 pounds so I am up to 11-13 pounds so far this pregnancy.  My urine was fine, blood pressure was fine.  The doctor came in and we listened to Nathan's heartbeat.  It was beating 153 bpm.  He asked me if I had any questions and I asked what would they do if Nathan was still breech close to the time of delivery.  The doctor said around 35 weeks they will check to see if he is head down if he's not they will give him to 36-38 weeks to get head down and if he isn't they will confirm he is breech by doing an ultrasound and then if he is indeed breech they will admit me into the hospital and give me a mild epi and manually turn him into the head down position.  So I said that to say this.. "Nathan move to head down on your own.  Mommy REALLY doesn't want to go through all of that."  Let's see if he will listen!  My next appointment is the 27th of December where I have to get my glucose testing done for gestational diabetes.  So that was my appointment update! =)

Belly Shot- 22 weeks

I usually do this every 4 weeks but I wanted to do it the same time I have a doctor's appointment (which is tomorrow).  Plus, Nathan must have had a HUGE growth spurt and my belly is looking huge!  So enjoy my bigness.  =)

Kent and Nathan

Nathan has been really moving a lot lately.  I've been able to feel him a lot and he has really been active.  He still has long stretches of being still or asleep but he'll usually give me about 30 minutes to an hour a day of really hard kicks, punches and rolls.  Last night he was doing it and really making my stomach jump.  Kent was sitting on the couch and I lifted up my shirt and told him where to put his hand.  And about that time Nathan did a good jab and Kent got to feel him!!  It was so neat.  Kent has always gotten to feel the kids move while in the womb but I guess this was special because I know it will be the "last first time of feeling the baby move".  It's kind of bittersweet.  I just thought I would share and document it.

Today I am 22 weeks pregnant.  Only (roughly) 18 more weeks to go.  18 weeks doesn't seem far off at all.  It's kind of scary.  We have NOTHING ready for the baby and there are still a few things we need to get.  A car seat being the top thing on our list.  We're waiting for the after Christmas sales though to really start getting things.  We figure the prices will be a lot cheaper, especially on the clothes.  So we'll wait it out and see.

Saturday Ramblings

Today has felt like the longest day ever.  And I have no idea why.  Yesterday I put up the tree and the inside decorations.  Kent hung all the stockings next to their owners' doors.  The inside of the house looks very cheery and like Christmas.  I love it!  Last night, to our surprise, Kent's grandparents wanted to the kids to spend the night with them.  So they left here around 6:30pm.  Kent and I had the whole night to ourselves.  It was really nice.  We watched some movies and I wrapped presents.  We ended up going to bed earlier than we thought we would.  It was sooo nice to sleep in.  We haven't sleep in like that in forever.  So it was really nice.  After we woke up and had breakfast we went and got the kids.  They both got up super early this morning and were ready for naps shortly after we got home.  So they took naps and Kent put up the outside decorations.  After the kids woke up we went outside to play for a little bit and they were being so cute that I thought I would take some pictures of them playing in the leaves and playing with the outside blow up Santa.  So I come in to grab my camera and memory card and *gasp* some little thief stole it.. I do believe her name is Zoey.  And I haven't a clue where that card is.  Makes me sick to think about it.  Thankfully most of the pictures on it I have saved to at least one folder somewhere on my computer or AOL, but still... I will have to go buy a new one soon.  I need to take some Christmas pictures of the kids for our cards this year.  Anyway, all the Christmas decorations are done so that's a relief.  I also got all our washing done today which took me forever.  We are fixing to grill some steaks and settle in for the night.  Our HUGE in state college football rivalry is tonight, Auburn vs. Alabama.  War Eagle.. by the way.  The game isn't until 7pm so we still have about 2 hours or more until it comes on.  Anyway, I do believe that's all our happenings for now.  I may have forgotten a few things as I have/am having kids crawling on me.. around me..  OH!!!  Thanksgiving.. duh.  We had a good Thanksgiving.  We had two places to go and both places had very good food.  I'm sure I've gained a few pounds, for sure.  I hope everyone had a good day as well.  And oh, Black Friday shopping..  I did it.. it was alright.. may do it again next year.. may not.  Wasn't really much to it.  Did get 98% of my shopping done so that was good.  We also got the kids' their big gift from Santa.. This: Fisher-Price Ultimate Terrain Traction Jeep® Hurricane We got a good deal on it at Wal-Mart so we grabbed it up.  Now all we have to do is get their stocking stuffers.  So we are just about finished with them.  Let me think.. I believe that's just about it.. I think.  Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!  Have a good one.. what's left of it.

I'm thankful for, ABC's and a potty update

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving I thought I would give a list of what I am thankful for..  I'm thankful for my salvation.  Without that I would be lost and going to hell.  I'm thankful for my family.  My husband who works hard and doesn't complain for having to do so.  For my kids who are all healthy, in the womb and outside of it.  I'm thankful that I live in America where I'm free.  I'm thankful for all the men and women who fight for my freedom everyday.  I'm thankful for their families for sacrificing so I can have my freedom.  I'm thankful for my home and for the clothes on my back, the food in my stomach.  I'm thankful that tomorrow I will get to gather with family and eat and celebrate.  I'm thankful I HAVE family to eat and celebrate with.  I'm sure there are many more things that I am thankful for.. there would just never be enough time or space to write it all in.

Last night after reading a book about the ABC's Jon Kent decided he wanted to sing his ABC's.. so here is a clip of that.

As of today which has been over 6 weeks Jon Kent is still doing well with his potty training.  He hasn't had an accident since day two of potty training.  So I would say we are trained.  He still has a pull up on for naps and bedtime and sometimes he wakes up dry from the night and usually he wakes up dry from a nap.  So all in all we are doing very well.  So I guess potty training is another thing I could be thankful for!

Please visit the above site.  It's about a little boy (baby really) who is less than a year old.  He has been battling Leukemia since he was 2-3 months old.  I have fallen in love with this little guy over the last few months and he is really a special little boy.  Please pray for him and pray that he will beat this horrible disease.

Party Pictures

Today was the kids' birthday party.  It went very well.  The kids had a blast playing in the play center and we really had a good turn out.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  Jon Kent and Zoey both got very spoiled.  Just some of the samplings were as follows:  Jon Kent got Thomas bedding (from my parents), a Thomas phone (from Uncle Jon Paul & Aunt Ashley), a Thomas train track set (from Granny and Pawpaw), Hungry Hippo game and a rain check for a basketball game type thing (from Mimi & Papa), some movies (from various people), some new Thomas friends trains, hot wheels cars (both from friends at first, art supplies (friend at church), etc. etc. etc.  Zoey got: My Little Pony (Uncle Jon Paul and Aunt Ashley), a bag with her name monogrammed for when she starts dance class (Mimi & Papa), a activity table (Granny and Pawpaw), arts supplies, 2 pair of boots, princess jewelry (from my parents), a few little My Little Pony (friends from church), art supplies.  They both received some movies and each got $35 from various people.  They got so much more than I described though.  It's hard to know where to start.  Anyway, if anyone who reads my journal came to the party and gave the kids a gift.. thank you!!!  They are playing with them as I type!

Redo for Half Way there...

Side note:  I was 20 weeks on Wednesday and AOL is REALLY getting on my nerves!!
-----------

Today I am officially 20 weeks pregnant.  Only 20 more until, Nathan Tyler is due.  I really can't believe I'm half way through my last pregnancy.  Kent said it didn't feel like we were already half way, because it still felt like April was forever away.  He is right, April does seem a long way off.  But with the holidays coming things will only speed up and soon we will be looking at a brand new year and lots of stuff to do before the baby gets here.  I'm excited, anxious, nervous.. but ready.  I'm ready to see our son and ready to hold him and introduce him to his brother and sister.  I'm ready for our family to be complete.  So here's to another 20 more weeks!
-------

Jon Kent turns 3 tomorrow.  THREE!!!!  I swear it so feels like he was born a week ago.  But he is turning three.  He has been going around telling us that "tomorrow's my birthday".  And he sings happy birthday to himself.  It's all really cute.  We bought him a small gift to open tomorrow as his and Zoey's party is this Saturday.  We also bought Zoey a small gift to open tomorrow so she wouldn't feel left out.  I'll update sometime tomorrow hopefully with some pictures.

Birthday Pictures

He had a great day and a great time.  He got to eat his birthday steak and some cupcakes so he was a happy little boy.  Gramsie and Poohba got his a little something for his birthday (his party is Saturday so he and Zoey both are getting their "bigger" presents then).  He got some PJs, coloring book, reading books and crayons.  Zoey got some coloring books, crayons and reading books as well.  I think Zoey enjoyed her brother's birthday as well. ;-)  Enjoy the pictures.  AOL wouldn't let me add a caption to them so yall will have to make up your own.

Happy Birthday, Jon Kent!

Happy 3rd Birthday to my little man, Jon Kent!!!

He has been spoiled rotten today so far.  He woke up today and had "Shrek (sp?) pancakes" with birthday candles in them to blow out.  He also opened his presents.  He got a Spiderman action figure and a Black Spiderman action figure.  He loved both.  And he has been walking around showing us how old he is by holding 3 fingers up.  He has had Happy Birthday sang to him more times than I can count and still can't get enough of it.  He got to have McDonald's for lunch.  He got a couple of cards in the mail as well.  Tonight we are going out to eat at a local steak house because he wants steak.  We're going to eat with my parents.  I've got some cupcakes to stick some candles in for after supper.  So his birthday has been alllll about him, as it should be!!  I'll update later with some pictures.

PS: I have no idea why my journal is messing up and if it's just mine.  But every time I load it up all I get is a huge black box.. where my 20 week belly shots are supposed to be.  So I have no idea what that is about.  I'm sure AOL is having a bad day(s) and will finish it's hissy fit soon.

Stop the Presses!!!!

We have a name.. I repeat we have a name!  LOL.  Our 3rd and last child will be named Nathan <insert yet decided middle name here> O_________.  So we have a first name!!!  Yay!!!  We have been calling him that all day and it already just seems to fit.  I'm so excited!!!

News Alert: Baby Boy "O" still has no name

Kent and I both have been looking the internet over and over and over.  I swear my eyes will never see the same..  And still no name.  Not even a maybe name.  Not a first name nor a middle name.  I know we have at least 4.5 months left.  And I know there is still plenty of time to decide.  However, I like having a name.  I like being able to tell others about enter name here and calling him by that name.  It makes me feel closer to him, if that makes sense.  That way when I talk to him or of him I can call him by his name.  Jon Kent and Zoey (while Zoey's middle name was still up in the air at this point) all had a name before we even knew what they "were".  It's frustrating.  Hopefully soon as name will come to us and it will just fit.  Hopefully soon...

It is indeed fall time around here.  I'm loving the cooler temperatures and all the pretty leaves changing.  I have taken some pictures of the kids over the last few days and thought I would share.  Enjoy!

PS: I'm 19 weeks pregnant today.

Just our happenings

This weekend we stayed pretty busy.  Friday evening we all went over to my parents' house to eat supper with them, my brother, sister-in-law and nephew.  We ate, talked, etc.  Saturday morning Kent and I took the kids to the "Imagination Hour" at the library.  What it consists of is singing a couple of songs, reading and then doing some sort of craft or game.  It was supposed to last an hour but we were done and leaving within 30 minutes.  It wasn't as good as the last time we went, but the kids still got a kick out of it.  I guess in the end that is all that matters.  Anyway, that afternoon Kent and I went looking for a new 'used' car to trade our current car in for.  Our current car only fits 4 people and we need a car that will fit at least 5 since our little boy (who still is nameless) will need a place to sit once he comes.  So we found a car on the internet that was being sold at the dealership we bought our car from.  We head up there to look at it and talk prices, etc.  Well, we get to the talking prices part and the guy gave us a figure.  Kent told him no, that our car was worth more than that as a trade in and we weren't going to finance that much money.  We didn't want to finance any more money than we already owed.  Which for any normal person (not a sales man obviously) that would make sense.  So the salesman went back to talk to his manager and came back and offered us a $1,000 more for our car.  Which still wasn't enough.  By this time the sales guy was pretty ticked that he didn't make the easy sale he thought he would.  And he was telling us we were being unreasonable, etc.  Kent handled it very well.. while me and my raging hormones were ticked.  When the guy got back up to talk some more to his manager I told Kent in a loud voice (the whole place is opened to where you can see and hear everyone else) "that just because we didn't want THAT car anymore didn't mean we wouldn't come back to look at another one but the way that guy was acting made me not want to buy ANYTHING from that dealership ever again!"  I think at this point Kent was getting a kick out of it and it didn't faze him a bit.  We got up and got our keys and left.  The salesman was none too pleased.  I think once we walked in and he saw how 'young' we looked he thought to himself, "Easy sale."  But we have until April to try and find another car.  We are in no hurry and we want to find the best deal possible.  So as of today we are still a 4 car seat family and we'll take our time looking for something else.  Anyway, Saturday night we grilled out and ate supper at home.  Then we watched some football and let the kids stay up a little bit later than usual because of the time change.  Which we were glad we did..  Because Sunday the kids were up before 6am.  Had we not let them stay up a bit later, they would have probably been up before 5am.  When we got up Jon Kent was coughing pretty badly.  He just didn't act like he felt good and he just laid in our bed watching TV.  So we gave him a breathing treatment and his cough settled down.  Zoey and I went ahead and went to Sunday School since I had a class to teach (I teach 1st-3rd graders).  After Sunday School we came home and the kids went down for a nap.  Then we got up and went over to Kent's grandmother's house to eat lunch and since everyone in the immediate family was there, we drew names for Christmas (instead of buying everyone gifts we just draw a man and woman's name and then buy for all the kids, which there are only 2 other kids besides my own).  Then we came home and rested for the rest of the evening.  This morning we all got up, had breakfast and the kids played while I started laundry.  I called the doctor to get Jon Kent an appointment for 2pm because he is still coughing and wheezing a bit.  Then we did "school work" and the kids also did a craft project, which you can see in the pictures.  Now they are both asleep and I am finishing up the clothes and will soon be getting myself ready to head to the doctor.  Once the kids are awake it will be a mad dash to get lunch cooked, kids clothed and us on the road to the doctor.  I'll update yall on the results when I get the chance.  So until then.. have a good day!

Update:  Jon Kent has a sinus infection.  He is on antibiotics for 10 days.  So hopefully it will knock the cough out and we will have a healthy little boy again!

Name Game

Alright all my blog readers..  It's time to show yourselves and help a girl out.  I need boy names.  Any and all names.  Leave me a comment with some names and let's see if we can give this boy a name!

It's A...

Very healthy little boy!  Who has no name...  But we're still working on that.  Anyway, the baby is currently weighing in at 6oz.  He is in the breech position which means he is currently head up instead of head down.  But that is normal for this stage as he has lots of work to flip and flop.  Jon Kent and Zoey were both thrilled at seeing their brother on the "tv" screen.  And they have asked to watch the video of the ultrasound several times.  So they are excited.. at least for now.  We'll see after the baby gets here how excited they stay.  Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Happy Halloween

I hope everyone is having a 'Boo'tiful day.  Ha,ha,ha.  Sorry, couldn't help myself.  Anywho, the kids went trick or treating last night since tonight is Wednesday and we all have church.  We only go to grandparents' houses and to great grandparents' houses, so it wasn't a big deal.  The kids had a good time and they both racked up with lots of candy and other goodies.  Jon Kent asked me again today if we were going to go "Halloweening" tonight.  He's a cutie!

Well, I'm 18 weeks pregnant as of today.  I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 2:30pm for an ultrasound and hopefully we will find out the sex of the baby.  I'm hoping this little one isn't shy and shows us his/her goods!  I'll update once we get home and settled tomorrow evening.

I hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Homeschoolin'

Kent and I were out on a date the other night and we swung by Office Max to grab something for Kent's work.  Romantic, no?  Anyway, Kent was off looking at stuff and I was just browsing around.  I came to the preschool section and was looking at some of the books.  They had several different workbooks to choose from that taught kids ages 2-4 different things.  Letters, colors, numbers, etc.  So I grabbed one that was for ages 2-4 and that was supposed to get the child ready for preschool.  So today while we were eating breakfast I told Jon Kent that we were going to do some school at home today.  Because we haven't enrolled them in the "Mommy's Day Out" program yet because they were both sick last week and then this week they are going to get their flu shots.  So we are putting it off for another week.  Anyway, when I said the word school that boy's face lit up and he was ready!  So after we cleaned up from breakfast I got the little workbook out and tore out a page.  I set us up a little area on the kitchen table where he could do his "school" while Zoey colored.  Anyway, we only did one page today because I thought for sure he would be bored with it.  But he wasn't!  He did everything and once I explained how to do something like draw a line matching the two color trains to each other, he could do it!  I was just so proud of him!  After he was through with that, he colored with Zoey.  Then we went to read and play a little bit before nap time.  I'm trying to get them both into a routine of eating, learning, playing, nap, etc.  It won't be every single day but at least most.  So when they do start going to school they will be used to some form of a routine.  Anyway, I'm just proud of my little boy.  Because that's what he is, a boy.. he's certainly growing out of being a baby.. but he'll always be MY baby.. sniff, sniff.

Craft Time

Lately the weather has been a bit chilly to play in, so we have been having to stay indoors.  The afternoons are saved for outdoor playtime, so I really needed to come up with some more creative things to do while we were all inside.  So that is where construction paper always comes in handy.  The kids have been having fun in the last couple of days.  We are on a Halloween theme currently.  Once the holiday passes I'm sure we'll do something with a turkey in it.  =)  So anyway yall enjoy!!

17 weeks

I'm 17 weeks today.  One week from tomorrow we will hopefully be finding out whether our little caboose is a boy or a girl.  I'm looking forward to knowing what the baby is so we can start seriously looking at names.  We have a few, but so far none that Kent and I both have settled and agreed on.  Well, I'm pretty sure we have a girl's name but no sight of a boy's name so far.  Usually by now we have a name picked out for each.  I guess since this is our 3rd, we are kind of running out of names.  Anyway, I'm also feeling sickly again.  Ugh.  I thought it was something I ate yesterday, as I was in the bathroom last night from 1:30am-3:30am.  But now I'm starting to feel gaggy again and my stomach is doing flips..  I'm hoping it's just a passing type thing and won't be here long.  I thought I was done with all that mess!

The weather here has finally cooled off.  Actually it's pretty chilly.  Going from the 80s to the high 50s in a few short days is crazy.  But I'll take the cooler weather over the hot weather any day when I'm pregnant!  Hot days are just miserable!

Well, I guess I better go.  The kids are having an indoor picnic and it looks like they are finishing up.  I'll type at yall later!!

Update:  I added some pictures from this afternoon.

Jon Kent Singing

I took this video this morning after breakfast.  He was using his blocks as drums and singing Joey's Jumping on the bed.  He was really cute and he thought he could see himself singing on the camera.. LIVE.. he didn't quite understand that I had to record it first.  And yes, at the end he is crying but he quickly got over it once he saw himself on the camera. So all is well!  Enjoy the video!

Timeout Cutie!

We currently have no water pressure.  Well, we never have actual water pressure without our pump, to pump the water up the hill.  But even with the pump the water pressure is still low.  I heard Kent talking to the water department early this morning and they were supposed to send someone out sometime after 7am.  It's 8:17am right now and I haven't seen anyone or heard from anyone either.  Not to mention we can't flush the toilets right now and that's making potty training fun.  Jon Kent doesn't understand why he can't flush the toilet and I just keep telling him it's broken.  And then Zoey usually tries to help and she REALLY doesn't understand why she can't help flush the toilet.  I'm hoping it's fixed soon as I have about 4 loads of laundry to do, a kitchen floor to mop and some tea to make.

I took some pictures of Zoey in timeout Saturday night.  She looked so cute.  I forget why she was in timeout though.  I'm sure she either was hitting her brother or told me no after telling her to do something.  Timeouts usually work for us though.  The kids hate being still in one spot for any length of time, so it works.

We are supposed to get rain all day to day.  We really, really, really need it as we are in a serious drought.  On the news they were talking about if we didn't get any decent amount of rain by the summer, how they might have to start restricting indoor water usage.  They already have some restrictions on outdoor usage (not in my area though.. yet).  So any rain we get is good, but we need A LOT!

Week 16

Today I'm 16 weeks pregnant.  I took some belly shots thinking you could see a difference but after looking at them, they don't seem much different from the last set I posted. =/  I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  Anyway, enjoy!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 8

This past Saturday my parents decided to throw Jon Kent a "poopie party".. for pooping on the potty.  Yes it seems ridiculous, but Jon Kent was very excited!  He had a chocolate cake (poopie cake) and we even put a candle on it.  You would have thought it was his birthday.  However, he hasn't (until this evening) poopied since last Friday.  So that would be 4 days ago.  So today after him sitting on the potty and whining/crying that it hurt I called his doctor.  She told us to give him a suppository.  So I went and bought some and brought them home and showed him.  I told him if he didn't poopie that I was goingto stick one of them up his booty.  He didn't seem to care, so later I put on some rubber gloves and did the deed.  Fun times man, fun times.  So finally after 4 days and lots of begging, he poopied.  And boy did he poopie.  I had another gagging fit but in the end we had a happy boy again.  I'm hoping he has learned his lesson about holding his poopie.  Because if not, he has a whole bottle left of his "booty pills" that I'll man on some more rubber gloves and give him.  *gag*

On a side note:  AOL is being a pain in MY booty and isn't letting me update my journal through my regular AOL.  I'm having to get on IE and go to AOL.com and do it that way.  How STUPID is that!?!?!  I guess when it's free they give you just about the crappiest service.  If it wasn't for this journal and all the memories and facts that I have in it, I would be done with AOL all together.  And maybe, just maybe I'll get unlazy and just copy and paste all my entries into a separate folder or whatever and go to blogspot and start a journal there.  Although I highly doubt AOL would care!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 4

Well, today went just as well as yesterday.  We had no accidents.  He woke up dry from the night and from his nap.  He didn't poopie so we will probably have to deal with that sometime tomorrow, but he is doing pretty good.  He is telling us when he has to go and then he will sit on his potty and go.  I couldn't be more proud of how this has gone.. especially seeing how it all started.  I guess once it clicked it just clicked.  I'm fairly sure he will still have some accidents along the way, but I think he has his fundamentals down pretty well.  So I'm pretty excited about that.  I'm going to call the Mommy's Day Out program next week and get him and Zoey signed up.  That should be an experience in and of itself.  I'll keep you updated on that!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 3

OK.  So the day started off as usual.  Jon Kent peed in the potty this morning.  I had some errands to run so I put him in a pull-up and told him that they were still big boy underwear and he wasn't to pee or poop in them.  So we are out and about in town for a little over an hour or so.  I kept asking if he had to go potty and he kept telling me no.  While in town I picked up a Thomas the Tank Engine learning toy (laptop type thing) and told him that he could have it when he pooped in the potty.  He was pretty excited about it.  So we get home and I put the toy on the bathroom window seal where he could see it but couldn't reach it.  I sat him down on the potty and noticed his pull-up was still dry.  So I figured he would have to pee by now.  So we wait and wait.  But no pee-pee.  So he goes down for a nap.  After he wakes up, I noticed he was still dry.  So I went and sat him on the potty.  And he immediately peed.  Yay!  He went the rest of the afternoon and evening not peeing or pooping.  So we go to church.  I tell his teachers that we are potty training and to offer to take him to the potty.  So they did.  But he never went and when we got home he was still dry.  I knew the boy had to at least have to pee.  By this time it had been about 5 hours.  So we went to the potty but he never did anything.  He would get up, run around for a bit and then say he had to potty.  After doing this a couple of times, he told me he wanted to "frow up".  So I knew his tummy must be hurting him.  Plus, he had broken out in a cold sweat on his forehead.  He finally got up again without going and played a little bit, but he kept telling Kent his stomach hurt.  So Kent took him back into the bathroom and sat him down and tried to talk him through it.  When the poop finally started coming out Kent said Jon Kent looked scared (LOL) and tried to stand up.  But Kent sat him back down and finally he pooped!  YAY!!!!!  He was so proud of himself.  AND he got his Thomas toy!!!!  I'm hoping now that he has gotten his first poop out of the way, he won't be so scared to poop in the potty.  Anyway, of course we had to call the grandparents and tell them.  Everybody was pretty proud.  So let's recap.. Jon Kent-0, Potty-4.  Woot-woot!!!  No accidents today!!!!

A Break from the Chronicles

We are still on the potty train, but I'm going to try and wait until the day is complete to actually update.  But for a sneak preview, he has done well so far today.  No accidents.

I'm fall cleaning this week.  So far it's going pretty slowly.  I've got all the closets cleaned out and straightened.  I still have to go through the kids' toys and weed out the younger toys to make room for toys they are sure to get for their birthdays and Christmas.  I have washed all the windows and base boards and wiped down all the doors.  And that's it.  The rest of the cleaning is my basic cleaning just a little bit more detailed.  Sounds fun doesn't it!?!?!

Today I am 15 weeks pregnant.  I'll take a picture next week to show you my growth, or better yet the baby's growth.  Over the past couple of days I have seemed to "pop".  So the next picture should be a big difference from the last.

Well, that's it for now.  I hope to be around tonight with a great report on my little potty trainer!

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 2 (almost complete)

Good report of the day.. my eye isn't twitching.

Jon Kent, so far, has only had 1 accident.  Unfortunately it had to be a poop accident, but he did at least try.  He has gone to the potty (pee wise) twice so far today.  He had a pull-up on for his nap and it was wet when he got up from his nap.  He was so proud that he pottied.  It was the cutest thing.  He did tell me several times that he needed to go potty, but once we got there- nothing.  I think he was feeling the feeling of having to poop but just never could.  But alas when he did have to poop he went into a corner and I found him there probably 2 seconds too late.  At least I didn't almost throw up this time.  So to recap.. Potty-2, Jon Kent-1.. so far.

Update @ 8:57pm:  The day didn't end so well.  We had 3 more accidents.  So Jon Kent-4, Potty-2.

Chronicles of Potty Training: Day 1

I'll apologize ahead of time for any errors or grammar mistakes I may make in this entry.  As I'm having to type with a twitching eye.  If only I WAS joking...

Well, today was day one of Jon Kent's potty training.  And from here, there is no turning back.  We have told him that there will be no more diapers and that he is to use the potty from here on out.  His reward at the end of this(when he is moderately trained) is that he gets to go to school.  There is a Mommy's Day Out program in my area that we have been looking at sending the kids to once or twice a week.  So they can interact with other kids their ages.  Anyway, he gets all excited about it every time we remind him of his potty training goal.

OK, so the day starts off well.  He has on his big boy underwear that he picked out and we are good to go.  After we eat breakfast I smell something.  I thought it was Zoey but I was wrong.  It was Jon Kent.  He pooped in his underwear.  I take him to the bathroom to get cleaned up.  And while I'm getting the poop out of his underwear I come this close (__) from throwing up.  Now, I've been changing diapers for almost 3 years now and have never come as close as I did today to puking.  Anyway, I get him cleaned up and remind him again that we don't pee or poop in our underwear.  So we go out to play.  I ask several times if he has to pee or poop.  "No" he says.  A little bit later.. a river breaks free from his Spiderman undies and off we go to change.  I'm still reminding him pee is for the potty not our underwear.  So a little while later he comes running into the living room telling me he pottied!!  He was so excited.  "I sit on the potty momma!!!".  Well, he did, only he didn't take his shorts or underwear off before doing so.  Change number 3..  Nap time.  Oh sweet nap timePULL-UPS!!!!!!!!!!!  After nap he wakes up and he eats.  We go to sit on the potty and he pees!  Only a little, but I'll take it.  He tells me he is through so off we go back outside to play.  2 minutes later... TWO MINUTES LATER... he is peeing all over the garage!  Grrr.. off we go to change.  Kent's grandparents wanted to keep the kids this afternoon.  I warned them about our situation and told them that if they didn't want to deal with the first few days of potty training that it was fine for the kids to stay at home.  But they said they wanted them anyway.  So off to their house they went.  Kent's grandparents have a little potty, so it was all good.  Well, Jon Kent peed on their couch.. =X  Good thing it's leather.  Later on he did finally, finally pee in the potty and a lot of pee at that!  YAY!!!!  So lets recap.. Jon Kent-5, Potty-2.

Thus the twitch in my eye.  Oy!!!  But there always has to be a first day.. things will get better.. things will get better.. things will get better.. things will get better...

1, 2, 3, 4 weeks and counting

I went today for my 14th week check-up.  I gained 1.5 pounds over the past 4 weeks.  So that puts my grand total to 4.5 pounds.  All my lab stuff came back fine.  My blood pressure was slightly elevated but the doctor said that I should worry about it unless it continues to be that way past the 20 week mark.  He said it could just be my hormones.  So we are just going to keep an eye on things for awhile.  Hopefully it's nothing.  Anyway, we listened to the heartbeat and it was in the 160's so that was great.  I go back in 4 weeks for another appointment and to have another ultrasound.  Hopefully the baby will work with us and we will be able to see what s/he is.  That date is set for November 1st.  Well, that's my update.  So let the countdown begin.  Four weeks and counting!

The Blame Game

You know, it's quite easy to blame someone else for your own doings.  Whether they are right or wrong isn't the point.  Although it's much, much easier when you are wrong.  I'm finding in my own life and my own circle of people that the blame game goes on pretty often.  It's not something we always realize we are doing.  Sometimes we just think we are protecting a loved one or a close friend.  But really we are hurting them more than we are helping.  I know I've done it.  More times than I am probably comfortable telling.  For example, one of the kids falls and hurts their head.  I run over and make sure they are OK.  And the second I realize they are, I turn to Kent and say, "Why weren't you watching them?"  When I know good and well it was a simple accident that happens and I too was in the room, so I too should have been more careful in watching them.  But I still chose to blame Kent.  The blame game.  I guess my point in all of this is, to be careful when trying to pass the blame onto someone else.  It's easy to point fingers but as the old saying goes, "You may be pointing your finger at someone else but you have three more pointing back at you."

*~*~*~*~*

My parents bought the kids their Halloween costumes.  Jon Kent is "Thomas the Tank Engine" and Zoey is "Elmo".  We tried their costumes on last night at my parents' house and they both loved them.  Zoey was kind of scared of her's at first, but once she realized that Elmo wasn't going to hurt her, she was good to go.  This morning after they both got up for the morning Jon Kent and Zoey both wanted to put their costumes on.  So I let them.  Might as well get the money's worth out of them.  They wore them around for at least 30 minutes or more.  Just running around and playing.  They are going to be a cute pair come trick-or-treat time!

Right before the kids took their naps, I decided I was going to do a quick vacuum throughoutthe house.  Jon Kent told me he was going to sit in his chair in his room and listen to the birds.  I had the windows up and there was a nice cool breeze blowing through.  He told me he was tired and was just going to rest.  So I go off to vacuum while he rested and while Zoey was playing in her room.  By the time I got back to his room (which was probably 10 minutes later) he was knocked out!  He had fallen asleep in his chair.  It was such a sweet sight.  I hated to wake him up to put him in his bed for nap time.  I took a couple of pictures from this morning and from Jon Kent's "resting".  I hope yall enjoy them!
